With bright lanterns in hand, along with moon cakes and a variety of candies wrapped in large and small cute bags, volunteers spread out to the hospital rooms to bring Mid-Autumn Festival to the children being treated there. |
Seeing the colorful lanterns, the sick children smiled brightly, seemingly forgetting the pain caused by needles and constant illness. There was no need for lion or dragon dances, the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival for the children being treated was simply having a red and green lantern hanging above their hospital beds. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Tran Hai Giang - Secretary of the Youth Union of An Khe Ward (Thanh Khe District), Mid-Autumn Festival is an occasion for families to gather and reunite, however, for children undergoing treatment and their families, the joy of this family reunion festival seems incomplete. |
“Therefore, the Ward Union wishes to bring the children a bustling, warm Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere to ease the pain they are struggling with every day, and to give them more motivation to overcome difficulties and illnesses, and to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival happily and warmly,” said Mr. Giang. |
It is known that on this occasion, the Ward Youth Union gave Mid-Autumn gifts to 150 sick children, each gift included milk, bird's nest, lanterns and lucky money envelopes, with a total value of more than 35 million VND. |
This year, the Hoa Hai Ward Youth Union (Ngu Hanh Son District) brought Mid-Autumn Festival for Children to disadvantaged children and children with disabilities in the area. The children got to watch the lion and dragon dance, watch Hang and Cuoi dance and sing… |
The ward delegation presented 70 gifts to disadvantaged students and disabled students who overcame difficulties to study well in the area, each gift worth from 200,000 VND to 500,000 VND. |
Also on this occasion, the City Youth Union - Da Nang City Young Pioneers Council coordinated with the Da Nang City Charity and Children's Rights Protection Association to organize the program "Lanterns to light up dreams" for 100 children of fishermen in difficult circumstances in the area. |
In order to share with the people in the North who are affected by storms and floods, the program was organized briefly, shortening the art programs and lion dances. The Organizing Committee awarded 100 gifts including candy and cash, worth 500,000 VND/gift as a word of encouragement, motivating the spirit of overcoming difficulties, encouraging the children to realize their dreams. |
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thao - Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, on the occasion of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the Youth Union and Young Pioneer Councils at all levels will organize Mid-Autumn Festival programs for children in special circumstances in many different ways. "In the current situation, we also deeply sympathize with the difficulties and losses of people and children in particular in localities affected by storms and floods. Hopefully, people in the northern provinces will overcome this difficult time and soon stabilize their lives," Ms. Thao said. |
