On the evening of October 5, a representative of the Hoai Duc District Police (Hanoi) said that a factory fire had just occurred in the area, with a damaged area of about 200 square meters.
Accordingly, at around 6 p.m. the same day, a fire broke out at a lingerie factory in La Phu commune (Hoai Duc). Because there were many flammable materials inside, it created a column of black smoke that rose tens of meters high.
Witnesses said they could see the smoke from afar, along with the fire raging.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Hoai Duc District Police coordinated with functional units of Hanoi City Police and the Fire Prevention and Fighting University to dispatch many vehicles and police to the scene to put out the fire and organize rescue.
Due to the fire being near the railway, authorities also announced that the railway industry would temporarily stop trains running through the area to assist in firefighting efforts.
By about 8:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was completely controlled.
"The fire did not cause any human casualties, and we are currently assessing the property damage. Initial estimates indicate that the area damaged by the fire is about 200 square meters. The factory started the fire to produce underwear and then spread to the baby diaper factory next door," a representative of Hoai Duc District Police added.
