According to witnesses at the scene, the fire broke out at around 9:00 p.m. on June 23 at Thuyen Lam Pagoda (150 Dien Bien Phu Street, Truong An Ward, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province).
A resident living near Thuyen Lam Pagoda said that at first he saw smoke billowing from the pagoda, then heard shouts of fire. The fire then broke out in the main hall area, lighting up the entire Thuyen Lam Pagoda grounds.

At the scene, Thua Thien Hue provincial authorities blocked both ends of Dien Bien Phu street and asked people to stay away from the temple gate area.
According to the reporter's records, there were 6 specialized vehicles and dozens of soldiers from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of Thua Thien Hue province mobilized to the scene to perform their duties.
Leaders of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police were also present to direct rescue work and extinguish the fire.
