(Dan Tri) - While many people paint the national flag on their roofs, Nguyen Phuc Duc uses the arrangement of 30 blood donation certificates to show his patriotism.
Sharing about the achievement of "drawing" the national flag from blood donation certificates over the past 8 years by Nguyen Phuc Duc (student of the University of Science, Thai Nguyen University) received the attention of the online community. Discussing this idea, Phuc Duc said that recently, many young people have painted the national flag on their roofs to express national pride, towards the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day on September 2. However, because his family did not have enough conditions to carry out the call to "turn every roof into a national flag", Duc came up with the idea of arranging his blood donation certificates into a red flag with a yellow star.

To realize this idea, Phuc Duc spent many hours sketching, arranging them properly, forming an impressive national flag. The blood donation certificate with a red background and sparkling gold letters on one side was quite suitable to form the flag. After a process of fumbling with putting them together and taking them apart, Phuc Duc completed the national flag from his nearly decade of volunteering and donating blood to save people.

Phuc Duc confided that when he was in 6th grade, after a water tank spilled on him, he lost his right arm. The process of adapting to his disabled body and mastering his left arm for everything was not easy. Because of that, the young man became an introvert, afraid to go out in crowded places. Thanks to participating in volunteer activities at school and in the locality, this young man lived more openly and harmoniously with everyone. Two close friends who participated in voluntary blood donation encouraged Duc to sign up with them. "Because I had never participated in voluntary blood donation before, I was very scared. Just closing my eyes and thinking about the scene of a needle being injected into my arm made me sweat profusely. However, with the encouragement of the volunteers, I boldly tried it once," Phuc Duc shared. Talking about his first time donating blood, this young man still remembers the words of the volunteers: "The pain that blood donors endure when the needle is inserted is nothing compared to the pain of the sick children who wait every day, every hour to receive blood." After his first time donating blood, the male student confirmed that he was "addicted" to donating blood. Every day required by the Ministry of Health, Phuc Duc would donate blood to help patients with serious illnesses.

After 8 years, Phuc Duc has participated 30 times, along with receiving 30 certificates. After finishing the blood donation process, this young man cherished and carefully kept each certificate. Thanks to this activity, Phuc Duc became an active member of local blood donation clubs. The familiar saying of the student when he wanted to spread the spirit of humanitarian blood donation to his friends is "Love the Fatherland, love the people. Let's donate blood!". "At first, when I participated in volunteering, my heart was to give without receiving anything in return. However, looking back over the past 8 years, I have received a lot of things when I changed myself, no longer being shy and using my youth to help the community," Phuc Duc shared.
