According to Reuters news agency in Seoul, the 24-year-old British man climbed the 123-story Lotte World Tower with his bare hands. He did not use a rope or any other protective measures.
After more than an hour, the man had climbed more than half of the tower. However, the South Korean authorities and fire brigade were summoned and gathered around the building, forcing him to abandon his “journey to conquer heights” at the 73rd floor.

Seoul authorities forced him to move closer to the maintenance area to re-enter the building, a fire department official said, adding that police detained him for questioning.
Seoul police have yet to comment on the incident.
The Chosun Ilbo newspaper identified the man as George King-Thompson. British media previously reported that he had a similar criminal record when he was arrested and jailed for climbing the Shard building in London in 2019.
Another rare building climb was recorded in 2018 in the UK. Police arrested “French Spiderman” Alain Robert when he was more than halfway up the Lotte World Tower in London.
