Ly Van Huan, born in 1992 in Vu Linh commune, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province. Since childhood, Huan grew up listening to folk songs. Huan was fascinated every time he heard his father playing the flute and his mother singing folk songs. In the afternoons when he was herding buffaloes and cutting grass, Huan was guided by his father in every step from holding the flute, taking a breath, to completely playing a Tay flute song.
While in high school, Huan was a “musical artist”, regularly participating in performances at school and in the commune. Huan always cherished the dream of pursuing a professional artistic career. With the support of his family, in 2010, Huan passed the entrance exam to Yen Bai College of Culture, Arts and Tourism, majoring in flute, then studied the monochord.

Amidst the modern pace of life with so many new and exciting things that attract young people, Huan decided to stick with traditional musical instruments. “I am happy to live with my passion. I hope many young people love bamboo flutes in particular, traditional musical instruments in general, contributing to preserving and developing the national cultural identity” - Huan confided.
After graduating, with the enthusiasm of youth and love of art, he was assigned to work at the Music Team, Lao Cai Province's Ethnic Arts Troupe.

During his traveling tours to the highland villages, he fell in love with this land rich in ethnic identity. “I cannot forget the long “tours”, living with the Mong, Dao, Ha Nhi ethnic people… or the performances for the border guards in the bone-chilling cold of the border area. On many trips, the steep mountain passes had to use forest vines to pull the cart, and he had to walk to carry each speaker and amplifier to the performance location.
But all the tiredness disappeared when the music started, and below were the joyful eyes welcoming and the thunderous applause of the people for the group. At that time, I only had one thought: I had to devote myself to my profession to serve the people" - Mr. Huan recalled.

In recent times, Huan has regularly participated in local delegations to Kunming, Hekou, Mong Tu... (China) to perform the monochord - the musical instrument Huan was trained in at university. Notably, at the "National Solo and Ensemble Competition of Traditional Musical Instruments" in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province (June 2023) organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; with the ensemble performance "Chún Pláo" (Chasing the Deadline) based on the folk song of the Dao ethnic group performed by Huan and the actors and musicians of the Lao Cai Ethnic Art Troupe, he excellently won the Second Prize.

Each tour also gives him more material to put into composing songs, harmonizing and arranging with local sounds and colors.
Although he is new to the field of composition, Mr. Huan has had a number of songs recognized and praised such as: Bat Xat, the poetic sky (won the Special prize of the campaign to compose songs about Bat Xat in 2021); Lao Cai Police, Proud Hearts (won the Encouragement prize of the campaign to compose literary, fine arts, photography, and music works with the theme Lao Cai Police Soldiers for a peaceful life, serving the People); Spring colors, White plateau horse hooves, Love green rice fragrance...

Proficient in 4 musical instruments (flute, monochord, jew's harp and guitar) plus handsome appearance, youthful, flexible and intelligent way of speaking, Mr. Huan is trusted to be the MC of the Provincial Ethnic Arts Troupe at cultural and political events.

As Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ethnic Arts Group, Mr. Huan has always actively participated in youth activities and youth movements organized by the Youth Union of the Department of Culture - Sports and the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies - Enterprises. In 2023, the multi-talented musician Ly Van Huan was one of the outstanding young faces of Lao Cai province to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee at the Ceremony to honor outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students, university students and youth.
