On the evening of June 6, midfielder Andrej Nguyen An Khanh arrived in Hanoi after a long journey from the Czech Republic.
According to the schedule, the 18-year-old player arrived at Noi Bai airport at 1:15 p.m. after connecting from Dubai. However, due to bad weather, An Khanh's flight to Hanoi was delayed by 6 hours.
Although quite tired, the Do Luong (Nghe An) native was very happy to return to Vietnam. This trip had a special meaning for Andrej Nguyen An Khanh because this was the first time he was called up to the U23 Vietnam team.
It is known that An Khanh returned to Vietnam after 10 years. However, he speaks Vietnamese very well so he adapted quickly to the new environment.
Andrej Nguyen An Khanh shared his feelings: "I am very happy to wear the U23 Vietnam team jersey. This is also my parents' wish. Although far from home, my family always looks towards our homeland."
Nguyen An Khanh started training with U23 Vietnam from June 7. He is one of the young faces receiving special expectations from coach Philippe Troussier.
Coach Philippe Troussier said: "An Khanh has Vietnamese nationality. My job is to talk and discuss with the player personally before calling him up to the national team.
I hope that after An Khanh, we will have more overseas Vietnamese resources for the national team. This can be considered a typical case for the overseas Vietnamese policy for the national team to be more flexible."
Andrej Nguyen An Khanh was born in 2005 in Trinec (Czech Republic), in a family with a father from Nghe An and a mother from Hanoi. An Khanh currently has both Vietnamese and Czech citizenship. He is valued at 50,000 Euros by Transfermarkt .
The 18-year-old player's preferred playing position is central midfielder, with an attacking flair, and can also play well as a striker or left winger.
With his versatile playing style, An Khanh is a regular starter for U19 Sigma Olomouc and has been a regular on the club's B team playing in the Czech First Division.
Up to this point of the season, An Khanh has scored 7 goals and 20 assists for his teammates.
Notably, last March, the Vietnamese player was called up to the Czech Republic U18 team.
