9X 'street' player uses crutches to go to Can Tho Stadium to cheer because he is 'too passionate'

On March 7, the qualifying round of the Southwest region, the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup, continued with 2 matches: Can Tho University - Nam Can Tho University and Tra Vinh University - FPT Can Tho University. This is an important match to determine the 2 official names to participate in the play-off match, competing for the only ticket to the national finals. Therefore, nearly 3,000 spectators came to Can Tho Stadium to cheer for the players of the 4 teams.

From 1:30 p.m., many fans were present at the A stand of Can Tho Stadium. In the crowd of people entering, the image of Mr. Dao Trong Bao leaning on crutches with difficulty, his right knee bandaged attracted many people's attention. Mr. Hai showed difficulty when climbing each step, he had to have a friend to support him.

Mr. Dao Trong Bao used crutches to cheer for the two teams Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University.

Mr. Bao said that he has a special passion for football. When he was in secondary school, he started to get acquainted with the round ball. When he got married and had children, that hobby did not change. Although he has less time for sports because his family runs a restaurant and he also does freelance work, he still spends at least 3 days a week playing football with his teammates.

Sharing his current condition, Mr. Bao said that his right leg had just undergone surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The injury occurred during a football match before Tet, but the surgery was only recently. During this time, it was difficult to move around, he had to use crutches, and the doctor advised him to move less. However, because of his passion, he still wanted to join in the exciting atmosphere of the qualifying matches of the Southwest region, the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup.

Mr. Bao went to Can Tho Stadium to cheer for two close players, former teammates in "street" football, Tran Viet Huy (number 20, Nam Can Tho University) and To Hoai Phong (number 9, Can Tho University).

Mr. Bao said that before coming to the stadium, he watched some matches via livestream, and saw the grandeur and excitement of the tournament. The quality of the matches was quite high, the players gave their all, making the viewers satisfied. However, only when he was directly present at the stadium did the feeling of "eye-catching" become complete. Being able to join thousands of fans, he found the tournament to be truly large in scale and the cheering atmosphere in the stands was explosive. Although he often participated in "amateur" matches in Can Tho, Mr. Bao has never been able to participate in a professional playground like the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup. That is also something this "amateur" player regrets, especially when he is seriously injured.

Match between Can Tho University - Nam Can Tho University

Another reason that motivated Mr. Bao to be present at Can Tho Stadium was to cheer for two former teammates - Tran Viet Huy (No. 20, Nam Can Tho University) and To Hoai Phong (No. 9, Can Tho University). He highly appreciated player Viet Huy for his fiery playing style and good physical strength. Meanwhile, player Hoai Phong has the advantage of attacking speed and is dangerous with his shots in front of the goal. In the match between Can Tho University - Nam Can Tho University, Mr. Bao was a neutral spectator and thought that whichever team won was worthy.

Not only satisfied with the professional aspect, this 9X guy is also impressed by the beautiful cheering message of the fans. "You cheered civilly and politely. Of course, the most aggressive attitude is still for the home team. But you also give respect to the opponent, every beautiful situation is applauded to encourage the spirit. That is a good lesson that I will definitely apply, wanting to spread more in grassroots matches", Mr. Bao shared.
