After the practice match with Viettel U15 team this afternoon (February 20), the coaching staff of the Vietnam U20 women's team decided on the list of 25 players who will continue to accompany the team to Uzbekistan.
This will help increase competition for the players, as well as create conditions for coach Akira Ijiri and his colleagues to have more choices for the most suitable lineup in the upcoming challenging tournament.
In the list of 25 selected faces of the Vietnam U20 women's team, there is the best young female player of 2023 - Ngoc Minh Chuyen and a series of players who have left their mark on the Vietnam U20 women's team such as Bao Tram, Thanh Thao, Vu Thi Hoa. The Vietnam U20 women's team will also be the first football team of the country to compete internationally in the year of the Dragon.
On February 21, Coach Akira Ijiri and his players will board a flight at 1:00 p.m. from Noi Bai International Airport. By traveling 2 weeks before the official tournament, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team will have more time to adapt to the weather conditions and compete in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), especially when the temperature in this city is below 10 degrees and there is heavy snow.
Coach Akira Ijiri's students will have two more friendly matches with the home team to practice more tactics, as well as demonstrate their abilities to be included in the official list of the Vietnam National Team at the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship.
The Vietnam U20 women's team will face the Japan U20 women's team in the opening match on March 4, before competing with the girls from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on March 7 and China on March 10. The remaining group includes the host U20 women's team Uzbekistan, U20 women's team Korea, U20 women's team Australia and U20 women's team Taiwan. According to the tournament format, the teams will compete in a round robin to determine the top two teams in each group to enter the semi-finals.
