(BGDT) - Early this morning (June 12), in Quang Chau commune, Viet Yen district (Bac Giang), an electric discharge occurred, causing one person to be severely burned. Initial information said the subject climbed up a pole to steal an electric cable.

Specifically, at around 3:55 a.m. on June 12, at the power pole of the 22kV-482 E7.7 line in Nam Ngan village, Quang Chau commune, there was a phenomenon of "jumping" the protective device. At 6:30 a.m., local people discovered someone with burns and reported it to Viet Yen Electricity and Quang Chau Commune Police.
Police and electricity officials present at the scene determined that a subject had climbed up a pole to cut the power cable. During the process, he was electrocuted and fell down below.
The subject was identified as Lo Van Phuong (born in 1999) in Huoi Tao A village, Pu Nhi commune, Dien Bien Dong district (Dien Bien). Phuong is a freelance worker with no job.

When discovered, Lo Van Phuong had severe burns on his head, face, stomach... and had moved about 450 meters from the location of the electric discharge to a temporary shelter of the people.
Quang Chau Commune Police and Viet Yen Electricity took the subject to Military Hospital 110 (Bac Ninh) for emergency treatment and then transferred him to the National Burn Institute (Hanoi).
The incident did not cause any property damage because the power cable was not cut. Viet Yen Electricity has inspected the entire line, turned the power back on and coordinated with the police to handle the matter according to the law.
