Lam Son High School for the Gifted twins won first prize in national excellent student competition

Twins share the same passion…

In the tradition of national high school student exams, this is perhaps the most special case when a pair of twins in Thanh Hoa province both won first prize in biology.

They are twins Nguyen Le Bao Long (older brother), a student of class 12H, and Nguyen Le Thanh Cong, a student of class 12S, both at Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa). Both of them won first prize in biology.

Talking about his feelings after winning first prize in biology at the national high school competition, Nguyen Le Bao Long modestly shared: "The exam results surprised me quite a bit. Before taking the exam, I reviewed all the lessons I had learned. Teachers also supported me a lot with knowledge, and my parents always encouraged me psychologically, helping us feel secure when taking the test."

Nguyen Le Thanh Cong said he felt a lot of pressure because of the school's long tradition. Cong said: "Lam Son High School for the Gifted, the school we are studying at, has a long tradition of academic achievements. Previous generations have won major awards both domestically and internationally, so I have both pressure and motivation as a student of the school. The pressure is because there have been many people before me who have had good achievements, that is also the motivation for me to try hard in my studies."

Sharing their study tips and passion for biology, both Long and Cong said that when studying and doing biology exercises, they feel very energetic. And although sometimes their results in biology are not high, those low scores are the motivation to try to get higher scores next time and not be discouraged.

Not only do they share the same passion for biology, another interesting thing is that both Long and Cong share the same dream of becoming doctors in the future.

"Our dream is to become doctors. For now, we focus on studying well and conquering higher exams and competitions," Long said.

In the recent national high school excellent student exam for the 2023-2024 school year, Thanh Hoa province had 90 students participating in the exam, and up to 84 students won prizes. Of which, there were 9 first prizes; 22 second prizes; 23 third prizes; and 30 consolation prizes.

Notably, out of 84 prizes, 83 prizes were won by students from Lam Son High School for the Gifted (and 1 contestant from Chu Van An High School, Sam Son City).

With the total number of awards achieved, Thanh Hoa ranked 10th nationwide after the provinces and cities of Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh.
