A representative of the APG operator said the new problem has caused this cable line to only operate at about 50% of its bandwidth, affecting the speed of internet connection from Vietnam to international destinations.
The cause of the incident has not yet been announced, and the operator has not yet announced a plan to fix the problem on branch S1.7. The APG fiber optic cable management unit said it has fixed the error on branch S7 encountered in March.
APG is one of five important submarine optical cable lines connecting Vietnam with the world, with a length of about 10,400 km, located under the Pacific Ocean. APG has landing points in Vietnam, mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
The APG optical cable line was put into trial operation at the end of October 2016 and officially put into operation about 2 months later. Major Vietnamese network operators such as VNPT, Viettel, FPT Telecom, and CMC Telecom are all operating APG.
