In addition, localities allocate budgets or use socialized resources to provide essential medicines to prevent diseases for people in flood-affected areas.

"With diseases that may break out after storms and floods, the Ministry of Health has instructed localities and preventive medical forces to distribute essential medicines such as eye drops (to prevent pink eye), diarrhea medicine (to prevent gastrointestinal diseases), antiseptics, personal bandages (to be used when people are injured), fever reducers, etc.

These are necessary medicines to help people take care of their own health in current conditions, especially in localities that are isolated due to storms and floods," said Mr. Tuyen.

Mr. Tuyen also said that currently the northern provinces have suffered very heavy damage, and the budget is also limited, so the cooperation of the community and businesses is needed to distribute essential medicines to the people.

To help people in flood areas, what medicine should be prepared?

First is fever reducer and pain reliever: choose Paracetamol as a fever reducer and pain reliever that is safe for children. There are many forms such as tablets, syrups, and suppositories to choose from according to your child's age; be careful when choosing Ibuprofen, in addition to its fever-reducing effect, Ibuprofen also has anti-inflammatory effects.

However, you should consult your doctor before giving it to your baby. If you suspect dengue fever, do not use this medicine, as it has the side effect of causing bleeding.

Second, antidiarrheal drugs include rehydration and electrolytes such as Oresol used when having diarrhea to prevent dehydration and replenish the amount of water lost due to diarrhea; Smecta is an adsorbent drug, helping to reduce the symptoms of diarrhea. But you must consult your doctor before using it. If you have bloody diarrhea, you must see a doctor.

Third is medicine for skin diseases such as anti-itch cream: reduces itching caused by mosquito bites, insect bites or other skin diseases; antifungal medicine: prevents and treats common skin fungal infections after floods.

Fourth is another group of drugs: eye drops where saline is used, such as Efticol 9 parts per thousand. Antibiotic eye drops to treat eye diseases should be consulted with a doctor; wound ointments such as antiseptic solution, 70-degree alcohol, iodine alcohol to disinfect and protect wounds.

Medicines for children are pharmaceuticals that must be used properly, such as following the correct dosage instructions on the packaging or as prescribed by the doctor.

In addition to medicine, you also need to prepare medical equipment such as first aid kit, gauze, cotton, alcohol, antiseptic...
