On September 30, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism, said that she had informed agencies, units and businesses in the province about the situation of fake websites for the purpose of fraud, which often occurs in 4-5 star resorts and hotels.
According to tourists' feedback, there are currently a number of individuals pretending to be consultants about hotel rooms and other services in Khanh Hoa province. The scammers' method is to regularly post on social networking groups, providing advice and support for booking rooms. After that, this person urges customers to transfer room deposits, then gives a number of reasons to ask customers to transfer more money, and when their goal is achieved, they block calls and messages.
“Customers have repeatedly contacted these subjects to request a solution, but these subjects do not answer the phone and block communication,” Ms. Thanh said. These are systematic tricks and behaviors that have occurred many times with many different individuals, taking advantage of trust for the purpose of appropriating property. When tourists discover similar behaviors, they need to promptly report and inform relevant agencies for timely support.

As one of many hotels in Nha Trang that had a fake website set up by bad guys, a representative of Havana Nha Trang Hotel acknowledged that the articles, images and content of the hotel's fake website were "copied very cleverly", making it difficult to detect the difference, and the bad guys even ran advertisements to attract customers' attention.
According to this person, the fake page often copies the hotel's posts and changes the phone number at the end of the post, asking customers to deposit 50% of the room rental price to create credibility. "We have sent a warning to customers on the official website, reported to the authorities for a solution," the hotel representative informed.
Mr. Vo Quang Hoang - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Hotel Association (under Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association), expressed that the above fake website situation has a very bad impact on the environment, tourism image, and business situation of local hotels.
Khanh Hoa Hotel Association as well as Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association have made recommendations to the authorities to intervene and provide support. At the same time, they have requested units to increase their responsibility, publicize phone numbers, addresses, bank accounts, etc. and promptly issue recommendations and warnings to customers.

Mr. Hoang also advised people to research carefully before choosing a service; they should choose a travel agency recognized by the authorities. Prioritize booking online through reputable applications; be wary of pages advertising unusual hotel room discounts during the holidays, especially those offering to buy travel packages at prices much cheaper than the general market price.
At the same time, please share this information widely with relatives and friends who want to travel to raise awareness of deposit fraud and prevent loss of property.
Previously, in August 2024, a tourist in Hanoi was scammed by a social media account named "Thảo Cherry" for a total of more than 13 million VND in hotel booking fees in Nha Trang. This social media account also appropriated nearly 48 million VND from a tourist in Dong Nai. According to the authorities, nearly 100 people have been scammed and had their money taken by "Thảo Cherry" in the recent past. Currently, the authorities are coordinating, exchanging information, investigating and handling the incident./.
