Tan Vu Port Reaches 1 Million TEU Milestone for Fourth Consecutive Year

On December 26, Tan Vu Port - one of the main unloading units of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, "welcomed" the 1 millionth TEU throughput in 2024. This is the fourth consecutive year that Tan Vu Port has achieved this achievement, continuing to affirm its role as an important gateway in the supply chain of goods in the Northern region.

The 1 millionth TEU passing through Tan Vu Port in 2024 will be operated on the SKY IRIS vessel of CK – Line. The vessel is 138m long, operating on the HPX service route, and is expected to import 406 containers and export 354 containers.

Delegates witnessed the ceremony to welcome the 1 millionth Teu through Tan Vu Port (Hai Phong Port) in 2024.

This achievement continues to affirm the stable and sustainable development of Tan Vu Port. Previously, in November 2021, Tan Vu Port became the first seaport in the Northern region of Vietnam to reach a throughput of 1 million TEUs in one year. Since then, although the region has witnessed the emergence of many new ports, Tan Vu Port has maintained its leading position, continuously surpassing the impressive figure of 1 million TEUs for four consecutive years. This success demonstrates the effective management capacity, collective consensus, and strategic vision of the Hai Phong Port Board of Directors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, member of the Board of Directors, General Director of Hai Phong Port, thanked the State management agencies and Vietnam National Shipping Lines for supporting and facilitating all activities of the Company. He also thanked the partners and customers who have always trusted and chosen Hai Phong Port as a strategic destination. In 2024, Hai Phong Port achieved many outstanding achievements in production and business. The total volume of goods passing through the port achieved stable growth, about 40 million tons, of which container cargo reached approximately 2 million TEUs, with revenue reaching VND 2,910 billion. In addition to the successes in port operation and exploitation, 2024 also marked a major development step for Hai Phong Port with the completion of the establishment of two important joint ventures with SITC - Asia's leading shipping line, and with TIL, part of MSC Group - the world's largest container shipping line. “These joint ventures, when officially put into operation in the first quarter of 2025, will open up strategic cooperation opportunities for Hai Phong Port, while also bringing the expectation of creating a modern seaport service ecosystem, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Hai Phong seaport and Vietnam in the international arena,” Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh shared at the event.

At the ceremony, Mr. Ninh Cong Minh, representative of Maersk Shipping Line, one of the important customers of Hai Phong Port, congratulated the achievements that the port has achieved in 2024. He also expressed his gratitude for the close and effective coordination of Hai Phong Port in the past time, and believed that the port will continue to maintain its growth momentum and achieve more brilliant milestones in the future.

In 2025, Hai Phong Port will implement a series of key investment plans, focusing on optimizing management and operation processes, improving exploitation capacity, while realizing the commitment to a green port and minimizing environmental impacts, towards sustainable development. Thereby, Hai Phong Port will not only improve service quality, bring the best value to customers and partners, but also affirm its leading position in the Vietnamese seaport system.
