At exactly 0:00 on January 1, 2025 - In the first moment of the new year, at three ports under Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, including Tan Vu Port Branch, Chua Ve Port Branch and Hoang Dieu Port One Member Co., Ltd., the ceremony to welcome the first shipment of the year simultaneously took place. This is an annual traditional activity of Hai Phong Port to summarize the achievements of the old year and create motivation for a new year of enthusiastic production.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, said that in 2024, the total cargo throughput through the ports will reach an impressive 40 million tons. Of which, container cargo output will reach nearly 2 million TEUs, with revenue exceeding VND 2,900 billion, an increase of 26% compared to the plan. These figures have affirmed the position of Hai Phong Port as the largest seaport in the Northern region.

Last year, Tan Vu Port continued to set a record with 4 consecutive years of reaching over 1 million TEU of container cargo through the port. At the same time, Hoang Dieu Port also marked an important milestone when reaching the highest cargo output ever with 7.6 million tons, accounting for 78% of the general cargo market share in the region.

2024 also witnessed a major step forward for Hai Phong Port when it established two important joint ventures with major partners: SITC - Asia's leading shipping line and TIL of MSC Group - the world's largest container shipping line. This cooperation not only helps expand cargo service routes but also creates many opportunities for import and export shippers. This is an important stepping stone to enhance the competitiveness of Hai Phong Port on the international maritime map.

In order to continue the development momentum, Hai Phong Port has set many strategic goals in 2025. Accordingly, Hai Phong Port will implement many important investment and upgrading projects such as early completion of the merger of Hoang Dieu Port and Chua Ve Port. At the same time, upgrading the wharf and adding high-quality equipment and human resources to receive ships up to 40,000 DWT at Chua Ve Port; upgrading the channel depth to minus 8.5 m and expanding the turning basin to 300 m, to increase the capacity to receive larger ships at Tan Vu Port and Dinh Vu Port.

In addition, investing in 4 modern STS cranes for Tan Vu Port and Dinh Vu Port; promoting digital transformation with the goal of optimizing management and operation processes and continuing to implement green port commitments, minimizing environmental impacts, contributing to sustainable development. Tan Vu Port is on track to maintain its 5 consecutive years of handling over 1 million TEU of container cargo, affirming its leading role in the region.

The ceremony to welcome the first shipment of 2025 is not only a traditional event but also demonstrates the determination of all officers and employees of Hai Phong Port in conquering new goals. With a solid foundation from the achievements and methodical investment plans, Hai Phong Port promises to continue to affirm its position as the leading seaport in the Northern region and reach far on the international maritime map.
