The training conference on human rights work contributes to thoroughly grasping and disseminating some basic contents on the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, the State's policies and laws on ensuring human rights; plots, methods and tricks of hostile forces taking advantage of human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam; aiming to equip necessary knowledge for sectors and levels to apply in practical work.
Major General Nguyen Van Ky, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs - Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Chief of the Government's Permanent Office for Human Rights, spoke. |
Speaking at the Conference, Major General Nguyen Van Ky, Deputy Chief of the Government Office for Human Rights, emphasized that democracy and human rights are still the main directions that a number of countries, international organizations, and reactionary and hostile forces exploit to exert pressure, promote internal "self-transformation" factors, and incite opposition in the context that 2023 is the year to implement the mission of being a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.
Therefore, human rights work is the task of all levels, sectors and the entire political system. It is necessary to focus on simultaneously implementing both aspects of human rights protection and struggle: raising awareness, ensuring and promoting human rights and fighting against plots and activities that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam.
Proactively advise authorities at all levels to effectively develop and implement policies and laws on ensuring and promoting human rights, ensuring social security, and effectively addressing people's needs and aspirations, especially those related to religious freedom, ethnic minorities, land, etc.; strengthen propaganda and training on knowledge of law and human rights for grassroots cadres and civil servants.
Besides, it is necessary to raise vigilance, detect and combat plots and activities of hostile forces that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues at the grassroots level to conduct activities against Vietnam.
