On the afternoon of October 8, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Chief Inspector of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province, said that in the 2024-2025 school year 10th grade entrance exam, the unit received 3 complaints related to irregularities in exam scores.

Among them, there is a petition reflecting that candidate CTH, examination room number 6, Examination Council of Le Hong Phong High School, Bim Son town has average academic ability, but the entrance exam score for grade 10 of high school is unusually high.

According to Mr. Dung, after receiving the petition, the Department of Education and Training assigned the Department Inspectorate to verify the incident. Through inspection, the exam scores of CTH candidates conducted by the Ngoc Lac High School Examination Board had errors.

"The candidates' test scores on the name board and score sheet do not match the scores on the candidates' test papers," said Mr. Dung.

Specifically, the scores on the board are: Math 8, Literature 8.5 and English 6.4. Meanwhile, the scores on the actual exam of the candidate are: Math 4.5, Literature 6.5 and English 2.4.

Thus, the total score of all 3 subjects on the candidate's score sheet is 9.5 points higher than the actual score recorded on the exam. After calculating the total score and re-examining, candidate CTH was not admitted to Le Hong Phong High School for the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Dung said that this was an incident during the exam, the cause of the error stemmed from the working process of the review team and the scoring at the Examination Council of Ngoc Lac High School.

"The scoring and re-scoring team at Ngoc Lac High School's exam board followed all the steps as prescribed. However, due to the pressure and lack of concentration during the work process, the wrong scores were recorded. The responsibility for this mistake lies with the Chairman of the Exam Board and the members of the scoring and re-scoring team," Mr. Dung informed.

According to Mr. Dung, after the incident, the Director of the Department of Education and Training requested the Department of Examination and Education Quality Assessment and Le Hong Phong High School to coordinate in re-enrolling students according to the results recorded on the exam papers of CTH candidates; Ngoc Lac High School organized a review of the responsibilities of relevant groups and individuals for the above-mentioned errors.
