Cam Lo promotes industrial cluster development

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved in Decision No. 1737/QD-TTg dated December 29, 2023 of the Prime Minister, Cam Lo district will plan 6 more industrial clusters with a total area of ​​351.72 hectares. Currently, the district has 3 industrial clusters and 1 multi-industry trade - service and industrial cluster with detailed planning approved, with a total area of ​​216.53 hectares. The industrial clusters in the district have attracted 61 investment projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 2,784.65 billion; The total capital implemented is about 1,256.07 billion VND, creating jobs for nearly 1,500 workers, creating a breakthrough in economic restructuring, labor towards non-agricultural direction, contributing to improving income and life for people, building Cam Lo district to soon become a model new rural district.

The industrial clusters in Cam Lo district that have been established and put into operation have had their detailed planning approved at a scale of 1/500. Cam Thanh Industrial Cluster has an area of ​​25.5 hectares; Cam Hieu Industrial Cluster has an area of ​​75 hectares; Cam Tuyen Industrial Cluster has an area of ​​58.75 hectares; Cam Hieu Commune Trade - Service and Industry Cluster has an area of ​​57.28 hectares.

Up to now, the total investment cost for infrastructure construction of industrial clusters is 49,215 billion VND. Of which, Cam Thanh Industrial Cluster has basically completed infrastructure of traffic, electricity, and drainage; Cam Hieu Industrial Cluster is continuing to invest in completing the traffic system; Cam Tuyen Industrial Cluster has invested in 2 internal roads; Cam Hieu Trade, Service and Industry Cluster is calling for investment in technical infrastructure.

The average occupancy rate of industrial clusters is 35.8%. If we count the projects that have been approved for survey and project establishment by the District People's Committee and the projects that have been approved in principle for land lease to implement investment projects, then currently the land fund of industrial clusters in Cam Lo district has been fully allocated for the projects.

In recent times, the work of attracting investment into industrial clusters has always been of interest to Cam Lo district, clearly demonstrated in the determination to promote administrative procedure reform, build e-government, and create the most favorable conditions for businesses to register for investment. At the same time, the locality has been proactive in grasping the thoughts and aspirations of businesses and investors to have timely solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, promoting business development.

Investment projects in industrial clusters in Cam Lo district carry out production and business in accordance with registered industries, in line with the development orientation of the district's industry and handicrafts sector, associated with locally available raw material areas such as planted forest wood, rubber, cassava, peanuts, etc., promoting socio-economic efficiency, creating jobs, increasing income, contributing to a strong shift in economic structure and changing the form of organization of rural economic production.

There have been a number of large-scale investment projects in Cam Lo district, such as the Camel Beer Factory of TTC International Beer Joint Stock Company invested in Cam Tuyen commune, put into operation in 2022 with a capacity of 50 million liters/year, and is completing procedures to adjust the project scale to 150 million liters/year; adjusting the investment capital from 668 billion VND to 889 billion VND. A number of deep processing investment projects, exporting products to demanding markets in Europe and America such as An Thai Tapioca Starch Factory, Tien Phong Cam Lo Laminated Board Factory...

Based on the district's strengths in terms of geographical location, connecting traffic axes such as National Highway 1, National Highway 9 and the East-West Economic Corridor, the North-South Expressway under construction and the Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway under investment policy..., Cam Lo district is oriented to develop into a center for logistics services, warehouses, and wharves, associated with the planning of developing new industrial clusters.

Action program to implement the Resolution of the 16th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025; Resolution No. 03-NQ/HU dated May 5, 2021 of the Cam Lo District Party Executive Committee on industrial, trade and service development in Cam Lo District for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, identifying industrial, trade, service and tourism development as a driving force for economic growth, rapidly shifting the economic structure and labor towards non-agricultural direction, contributing to improving income and living standards for the people.

Accordingly, in the coming time, Cam Lo district will continue to focus on and mobilize all resources to create clean land funds and production sites for Cam Hieu, Cam Tuyen industrial clusters, Cam Hieu Commune Trade, Service and Industrial Cluster to arrange investment projects; establish infrastructure investment projects for industrial clusters, requesting support from the central and provincial governments and local budget capital to gradually complete the system of shared technical infrastructure works (internal traffic, sidewalks, trees, water supply, collection and treatment of wastewater, solid waste, fire prevention, fire fighting, power supply) of Cam Thanh, Cam Hieu, Cam Tuyen industrial clusters, Cam Hieu Commune Trade, Service and Industrial Cluster.

Promote investment promotion activities to create breakthroughs in economic restructuring; prioritize concentrated production projects, advanced technology, deep processing industries for interior and exterior wooden furniture, wood pellets, etc., industries that attract a lot of labor and are environmentally friendly.
