The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway has a total length of about 51km, the starting point connects with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi district, the end point intersects with National Highway 22 in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.

The project was approved by the Prime Minister for investment in August 2024 under the public-private partnership (BOT contract) method, with a total investment of VND 19,617 billion.

Since February, Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh have focused on implementing the work of marking and crossing boundaries in 21 communes and wards to serve the compensation, support and resettlement work of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project (phase 1).

Mr. Nguyen Tran Thanh Binh - Deputy Head of the Road 5 Project Management Board under the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that the total length of the route is 51km with a total of 3,029 markers that will be placed as a basis for land fund management, so that people in the area on both sides of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project can feel secure in production and business.

“In the first phase, 2,102 markers will be installed on a total length of 36.4 km, accounting for 70% of the total work volume of the entire route. This phase will be implemented on straight sections, not technically complicated, not related to the adjustment of zoning plans, and is expected to be completed before March 15," Mr. Binh informed.

According to him, after completion, the unit will continue to deploy phase 2 with 927 markers to be placed on the 14.16km long route, accounting for 30% of the workload including sections with intersections, complex technical factors, related to the adjustment of zoning planning projects....

“Before March 31, the work of marking and demarcating boundaries for compensation, support and resettlement must be completed simultaneously in 21 communes and wards of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province. This is an important turning point in the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project,” the investor representative emphasized.

According to the plan, before April 30, the Traffic Department will complete the counting and measuring work; before June 30, the resettlement compensation project will be approved.

On September 2, component project 2 “Investment in construction of residential access roads and overpasses across the highway” will begin construction. These are construction packages using budget capital.

In January 2026, Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1) will officially start construction.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway is 51.2km long, with the starting point connecting to Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi district and the end point intersecting with National Highway 22 in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.

In phase 1, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway is invested with a scale of four lanes, with works on the route, intelligent traffic system, toll collection system, rest stops... ensuring synchronization and efficiency according to current standards and regulations.

Regarding the investment method, component project 1 builds the expressway under a BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract with a total capital of about 10,421 billion VND. Of which, the investor's capital is about 9,943 billion VND (accounting for 95.41%), the city budget allocates about 478 billion VND.

The remaining three component projects are implemented in the form of public investment. Including, component project 2 to build a residential road and an overpass across the highway, about 2,422 billion VND.

Component project 3 compensation, support, resettlement through Ho Chi Minh City about 5,270 billion VND. Component project 4 compensation, support, resettlement through Tay Ninh province about 1,504 billion VND.
