From September 19-21, the Vietnam - Cambodia Business Association (VCBA) in collaboration with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Battambang province conducted a survey of floating schools for children of Vietnamese origin on Tonle Sap Lake, Pursat province, Cambodia. This is the basis for developing a program to support the repair and upgrading of schools, ensuring learning conditions for students.

The survey was conducted at floating schools on Tonle Sap Lake in Kandieng and Krakor districts (Pursat province). The results showed that many facilities were seriously degraded: the bottom was punctured, the classrooms were old and small. These schools need to be reinforced and repaired to ensure safety and maintain teaching and learning activities.

Among the schools, the school in Koh Ka Ek hamlet (Reang Til commune, Kandieng district) currently has two classes for children of Vietnamese origin and Cambodian students, with the participation of native teachers.
At the meeting with the people and students, the Vietnamese Consul General in Battambang, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van, said that the Party and State of Vietnam always care about the Vietnamese community abroad, especially the Vietnamese community in Cambodia. He also encouraged people to comply with Cambodian laws, avoid violations such as illegal fishing, and called on people to try to integrate into the local society, build a better life, and contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries.

Regarding the plan to support schools, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van affirmed that the working group will prioritize education and care for future generations to ensure they have a brighter life. He also recommended that families send their children to public schools in Cambodia to have the opportunity to complete general education and continue vocational training, opening up many development opportunities in the future.
During the survey trip, the VCBA delegation led by President Oknha Leng Rithy had a working session with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang. The two sides discussed practical and long-term support measures for people living on Tonle Sap Lake, focusing on improving teaching and learning conditions, improving the quality of life and human resources, thereby building an increasingly strong Vietnamese community in Cambodia.
