The 53rd Annual SGATAR Summit took place in Korea from October 29-31, 2024. The delegation of the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam attended the conference with 18 delegations of tax authorities of countries and territories that are members of SGATAR and representatives of a number of invited international organizations including: ADB, OECD, CIAT, IMF...
SGATAR members include tax authorities of 18 countries and territories: Australia, China, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Macao (China), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia and Laos.
The SGATAR Annual Summit is a conference for the highest level of leadership of tax administration agencies of the SGATAR bloc. In addition, the conference is also an opportunity for SGATAR members to strengthen the cooperative relationship between tax administration agencies, thereby helping and supporting each other in tax administration work at the regional level. This is the 53rd time the SGATAR Annual Summit has been held, hosted by the National Tax Service of Korea.
At this year's conference, member countries focused on discussing many important issues in SGATAR tax administration.
The discussion content of this year's delegation meeting focused on three main topics: effective dispute prevention and resolution mechanisms; digital transformation in tax administration and tax reform updates in countries.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing strategies to prevent tax disputes and challenges faced in resolving tax disputes.
In addition, tax policy and management trends are developing rapidly in line with the trend of globalization and economic digitalization. Member countries emphasize sharing and exchanging experiences on these trends, helping members adapt more easily to fast-paced changes and transformations, and the goal of tax base expansion reform is consistent with international practices.
Recently, Vietnam has been assessed to have many outstanding activities in the SGATAR bloc and actively promoted the exchange and sharing of experiences in many areas of tax management with member countries.
Director General of the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam Mai Xuan Thanh said that Vietnam always appreciates and prioritizes the cooperative, friendly and effective relationship of sharing tax management experience among SGATAR member countries.
