According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, based on the aggregated data reported by airport authorities, in the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines Group (Vietnam Airlines, Vasco, Pacific Airlines), Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines operated a total of 194,027 flights. Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines took the lead with 83,552 flights and the on-time take-off rate was 83%; Vietjet Air operated a total of 83,326 flights; Bamboo Airways operated 13,064 flights with an on-time rate of up to 82.8%. Two airlines maintained an on-time performance (OTP) rate of nearly 90%, namely Bamboo Airways with 92.5% and Vietnam Airlines with 87.1%. In the following positions were Vietravel Airlines with 86.5%, Pacific Airlines with 84.5% and Vietjet Air with 79.5%. “The average on-time take-off rate of airlines in the past nine months was only 74.2%,” said the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. In addition, in the past nine months, the number of delayed flights also accounted for a fairly high percentage of 25.8% (equivalent to 50,031/194,027 flights). Of these, late aircraft was the main cause with a rate of 15.3% and airlines accounted for 7.6%. In September alone, Vietnamese airlines operated 17,720 flights, with an on-time take-off rate of 76.6%. However, there were 4,142 delayed flights, accounting for 23.4%, and 106 canceled flights. According to the assessment of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, over the past nine months, air transport activities continued to have many positive changes, international air transport gradually recovered with more than 61 foreign airlines and 5 Vietnamese airlines operating 147 international routes connecting to 28 countries and territories.
