Many fishermen while sailing on the sea near Mui Dien (Dong Hoa Town, Phu Yen) encountered and recorded the image of a large whale surfacing, opening its mouth to hunt.

On July 5, Mr. Nguyen Le Vi Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hoa town, Phu Yen province said that in the morning of the same day, a whale appeared on the beach at Mui Dien scenic spot.
"We have directed units to protect this whale herd. At the same time, we have informed fishermen to protect whales and advised people not to fish in any form," said Mr. Phuc.
Accordingly, at around 8:00 a.m. the same day, the fishing boat of Mr. Huynh Kim Tuong (50 years old, residing in Hoa Hiep Trung ward, Dong Hoa town) was operating in the scenic sea area of Mui Dien when a crew member discovered a whale swimming near the fishing boat and used his phone to record it.
According to Mr. Tuong, the whale was very big, this was the first time he and the fishermen at sea saw a whale. "Dolphins used to appear frequently in this sea area, but whales are very rare. According to observations, the whale weighed up to several dozen tons, swimming around Dien cape, opening its mouth to hunt for prey" - Mr. Tuong said.
Mr. Dao Quang Minh - Head of Phu Yen Fisheries Department said that whales appearing in Mui Dien sea area may be moving to nearshore areas to find food.
According to Mr. Minh, the appearance of whales in the scenic Mui Dien sea area shows that the marine environment here is very good, the resources of small fish near the shore are diverse, and the food for this fish species is extremely rich.
