TPO - Late at night on April 3, thousands of residents of the Ehomes Phu Huu apartment building (Phu Huu ward, Thu Duc city, HCMC) had to use buckets, basins, plastic cans, etc. to collect water from the tanker truck to bring back to their apartments for use.
Talking to Tien Phong newspaper reporter, Mr. T. (resident of Ehomes Phu Huu apartment building) said that he was informed by the apartment building management board that there was a water outage since morning, but his house did not have many items so he could only collect 2 reserve buckets.
By evening, when he got home from work, this resident was exhausted because there was not enough water to bathe or cook. Mr. T. had to buy bottled water to drink and used 2 plastic buckets to collect water from the tanker truck to wash dishes, cook and save a little for personal hygiene.

“Usually, when there is a water outage, it only lasts for a few hours, but it lasted all day. My wife and children had to take a shower and have dinner at a friend’s house nearby. Life has been turned upside down,” said Mr. T.
According to the reporter's records, until 10 p.m. on April 3, many residents were still lining up to get water. Transporting water was quite difficult, some people used handcarts to make it easier to move on the road and up and down the elevator. The water supply was limited, so some people could not get water even though they waited.
The owner of a convenience store in the apartment building shared that since the afternoon of April 3, the consumption of 18-liter water bottles and bottled water has increased dramatically. Many households came down to buy 2-3 18-liter water bottles at once, along with a whole case of 5-liter, 1.5-liter, and 500-ml water.

A representative of the Ehomes Phu Huu apartment management board informed that with 4 buildings and nearly 4,000 residents, the place consumes about 600 m3 of water every day. Therefore, the water shortage greatly affects the daily life of the residents.
"According to the announcement from Thu Duc Water Supply Company, our apartment building is not in the affected area but the water supply has been weak and cut off since the night of April 2. Not in the plan, we still have 90% of the water tank (about 1,000 m3 of water, including 500 m3 of fire-fighting water not used for daily life). However, due to high consumption and long water outage, there is still not enough water to supply residents," said the representative of Ehomes Phu Huu Apartment Management Board.
Hundreds of buckets of water were requisitioned by the people. |
According to this person, from the afternoon until late at night on April 3, Thu Duc Water Supply Company provided 3 tankers, a total of 15 m3 of water to residents. The water supply unit reported that they encountered unexpected technical problems during the pipeline repair process and hoped to receive sympathy from the people.
"The 3 tankers supply less than 1/10 of the residents' water needs. We have cut off all water supply to the public system to save as much as possible. Currently, the water supply unit has not announced the time when water will be restored," added a representative of the Ehomes Phu Huu Apartment Management Board.
