On September 30, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province announced that it had just submitted a document to the Provincial People's Council on the issuance of a Resolution on policies to support airlines operating flights to the locality.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, Ca Mau airport has a level 3C scale, meeting the exploitation of Code C aircraft types such as ATR72, Embraer E190 and equivalent or lower, but for many years, Ca Mau airport has only operated one flight route Ca Mau - Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa (current frequency is 5 flights/week).
As of April 29, the direct flight route from Ca Mau to Hanoi and vice versa has been put into operation with a frequency of 3 flights/week. These flights always have a high seat factor (over 80% of seats are operated after reducing the load), thereby showing that they have initially met the expectations of people and businesses.
Ca Mau airport is not yet effective in connecting this locality with the rest of the country.
However, according to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the infrastructure of Ca Mau airport has not been upgraded, the runway size and load capacity are limited, causing many difficulties for airlines in opening and maintaining flights to the locality. Currently, aircraft serving medium-haul flights at Ca Mau airport must operate with a load factor of 10% compared to the load capacity index of the runway and the frequency of operations must not exceed 5% compared to the total number of flights in the year...
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the locality needs to unify and soon have specific and practical solutions to support airlines in maintaining and increasing the frequency of flights currently operating as well as attracting airlines to open new routes to Ca Mau. Shorten the distance between the locality and other regions in the country, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.
The draft Resolution of Ca Mau province also outlined a number of specific support policies for airlines using aircraft that must reduce their load when operating flights to Ca Mau province. The funding source for implementation is balanced and allocated annually by the provincial budget. The subjects eligible for support are airlines operating flights with a total of at least 6 flights to and from Ca Mau per week, with a minimum operating period of 1 year.
Accordingly, the cost of maintaining flight operations is supported by the ticket price of 10% of the total number of passenger seats of each type of aircraft, for each flight. The ticket price for calculating support is 3 million VND/seat for flights with a distance of over 1,000 km; 2 million VND/seat for flights with a distance of 500 km to 1,000 km and 1.5 million VND/seat for flights with a distance of less than 500 km.
