Smuggling iPhone 15 Pro Max from Singapore to Vietnam

On September 25, the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , and Smuggling of Ho Chi Minh City Police has just made a record, arrested the offender red-handed and decided to temporarily detain Tran Nhat Son (31 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) after discovering that this person brought 22 iPhone 15 pro max phones from abroad to Vietnam, through Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Accordingly, at around 5:00 p.m. on September 22, Son flew from Singapore to Vietnam on flight number VJ814 of VietJet Air and landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

At around 7:30 p.m. the same day, Son completed the immigration procedures to enter Vietnam and put his carry-on luggage, including a black backpack, through scanner No. 6 of the Import Luggage Procedures Team - Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch. However, before putting his luggage through the scanner, Son did not make a customs declaration.

During the screening process, the task force suspected that Son's luggage contained many mobile phones, the quantity exceeding the duty-free limit, so they invited him to conduct an inspection.

Here, the task force discovered in Son's carry-on luggage 22 iPhone 15 Pro Max phones, worth about 900 million VND. Son stated that he bought the above goods in Singapore and brought them back to Vietnam to sell for profit and did not declare or pay tax to the Customs Authority upon entering Vietnam.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency is continuing to verify and investigate to handle according to the law.

Also on September 25, the Da Nang City Customs Department discovered and seized a shipment of 20 smuggled iPhone 15 Pro Max transported by a passenger. The seized order was worth about 700 million VND.
