Don't give up when facing a strong opponent
Nearly a year ago, the Vietnamese women's team lost 0-7 to the French women's team at the Stade de la Source. The away team conceded a goal in the 5th minute and collapsed, conceding 6 more goals in the first half. In the match against the German women's team, a much stronger opponent than the French women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung's players also conceded a goal in the 3rd minute, but the difference was that they did not collapse. On the contrary, the Vietnamese women's team had one of the best matches in the history of women's football in the country.

Facing the world's top stars, Kim Thanh and her teammates were not afraid: bold in every dispute, clinging and blocking, diving to win the ball from the opponent's feet. They were also very confident, proactive in counter-attacks or controlling the ball, looking for opportunities to attack. It was a completely different mindset from the previous resigned defeats.

If we only look at the score, the 1-2 loss to the German women's team was already a miracle for the Vietnamese women's team. But the Vietnamese girls did much more than that. If a year ago we only had 1 shot in the match against the French women's team, in the match against the German women's team, Vietnam had 8 shots.
The German team is superior in terms of physique but the Vietnamese girls are not inferior.

More importantly, Vietnam 's opportunities all came from proactive attacks. Vietnam had very modern, fast, accurate, powerful and beautiful attacks. For example, the smooth coordination at the bottom of the field, then passed back to Hai Yen, Duong Thi Van shot from a distance. Both of Yen and Van's shots from outside the 16.50m line were dangerous. Or the situation where Tuyet Dung was very clever in intercepting the pass back from the left back of the German women's team, giving her a chance to face the opposing goalkeeper.
This proves that coach Mai Duc Chung has prepared plans when facing extremely strong opponents whose attack line has no chance to approach the penalty area.

Even better, there were times when the Vietnamese women's team flooded into the opponent's half, pressing high and causing the opponent to make mistakes. But perhaps the most impressive thing in the match was the extremely precise and effective defensive transitions of Thanh Nha and her teammates.

The Vietnamese women's team will arrive in Hanoi at noon on June 27 and train at the Vietnam Football Training Center until July 4. On July 2, the team will attend a farewell party organized by the New Zealand Embassy and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam . On July 5, the team will leave for New Zealand to attend the World Cup and have two friendly matches against the Spanish women's team and the New Zealand team. On July 22, the team will begin competing in Group E, against the US team; on July 27 against Portugal and on August 1 against the Netherlands.

The Vietnamese women's team was very confident, very determined with the highest desire. We have seen the progress of young players like Thanh Nha, Vu Thi Hoa..., the stability of Kim Thanh, Diem My, Hai Yen...
