Coach Thai Quang Lai of the reigning national women's volleyball champion VTV Binh Dien Long An said that the 2-week training trip at PFU Bluecats Club right before the second phase of the national volleyball championship brought about remarkable results. “When we arrived in Japan, we received full support from PFU Bluecats Club from facilities to professional advice. The training intensity at professional volleyball clubs like PFU Bluecats is… terrible. In the morning, they practice physical strength, and in the afternoon, they practice technical skills for nearly 5 hours, including warm-up time. The head coach of PFU Bluecats Club personally supported us with exercises on first-step defense as well as blocking. Therefore, the VTV Binh Dien Long An athletes improved a lot after this training trip, thereby achieving high performance in the 2024 national championship,” Coach Thai Quang Lai shared.
VTV Binh Dien Long An Club learns from volleyball powerhouse Japan
The effectiveness of the training trip at Tran Thi Thanh Thuy's old team made the leaders of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club decide to sign a long-term cooperation agreement. Accordingly, at the recent 20th anniversary of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club, this team officially signed a cooperation agreement with PFU Bluecats Club. The representative of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club said that the main content of the agreement signed by the two sides is that the Japanese club will create conditions for VTV Binh Dien Long An Club to come and train every year. The club also supports the coach for VTV Binh Dien Long An Club. The Japanese team is ready to receive young talents of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club for long-term training and give them the opportunity to compete in Japan if they meet the professional requirements. In addition, PFU Bluecats Club is also ready to send its athletes to compete for VTV Binh Dien Long An if conditions permit (not overlapping with the club's competition time)...
New direction
Before VTV Binh Dien Long An Club changed direction to cooperate with volleyball powerhouse Japan, Vietnamese clubs mainly chose Thailand as a training location. Thai foreign players are also a suitable choice for the expertise and budget of most Vietnamese clubs. The 2023 national champion LPBank Ninh Binh owns young Thai player Warasara, choosing Thailand as a training location before this year's Asian Volleyball Cup. However, this team did not achieve the desired success when it lost to VTV Binh Dien Long An Club in the semi-finals. The Information Corps Club also cooperated with Supreme Chonburi Club (Thailand) by sending Lam Oanh and Kieu Trinh to play for this club. After that, the whole team went to Thailand for training but the results were not as expected. In the 2024 national championship, the Information Corps Club disappointed when it could not make it into the top 4 strongest teams.
Coaches believe that teams should focus on youth training while cooperating with strong volleyball teams such as Korea and Japan, like VTV Binh Dien Long An Club is doing to bring about efficiency.
Exciting national volleyball championship semi-finals
Today (November 29), in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the semi-finals of the national volleyball championship for men will take place. The first semi-final match will take place at 5:00 p.m. between Sanest Khanh Hoa Club and Ninh Binh Club. The second semi-final match will take place at 8:00 p.m. between Border Guard Club and The Cong Club.
