Four marriages of the only musician awarded the title of People's Artist in the 10th term

Decision 724/QD-CTN signed by President Vo Van Thuong on June 22, 2023, conferred the title of People's Artist to 77 artists who have made many contributions to the fields of culture and arts. The only musician on this list is The Hien, author of the song "Nhanh lan rung" which has been associated with many generations.

The composer of a series of songs about soldiers

Musician Thế Hiển was born in 1955 in Ho Chi Minh City, originally from Nam Định. He showed his musical talent from a young age, at the age of 11 he was already proficient in playing the guitar and often appeared on large and small stages. At the age of 20, Thế Hiển became a first-year student at Saigon Law School. Later, he was encouraged by Meritorious Artist Mỹ An to pursue a professional music career, attending an intermediate vocal class at the Bông Sen Music and Dance Art Troupe, trained by famous artists at that time, such as: People's Artist Quốc Hương, Meritorious Artist Mỹ An, Quốc Trụ...

Along with many artists in the troupe, Thế Hiển once went with Mr. Quốc Hương deep into the forest to sing for the youth volunteers in the days after the country was liberated. He was loved by the army and people for his powerful voice and passionate, fiery style.

In 1983, Thế Hiển officially made his mark in the field of composition when the work Hat ve anh was released. With simple but emotional lyrics: "A backpack, a gun on the shoulder, the soldier is familiar with hardship. Long days and long nights, there are still young soldiers, deeply in love with their homeland, guarding the motherland", the song was quickly received by a large number of listeners through the waves of the Voice of Vietnam Radio. The name Thế Hiển was thus widely known throughout the country.

The Hien's later compositions continued to reap much success, many songs later became hits on the Blue Wave chart for a long time such as: Toc em tui ga, Chuyen nguoi doi doi, Hoai niem dau yeu, Doi cho trong con mua, Chuyen doi xua- Chuyen doi nay, Dau cau hoi... He also has a series of famous works about soldiers such as Hat ve anh, Ngang lan rung, Vo con bien, Noi nho tu dao xa, Linh dao Truong Sa, Tieng hat tren dao Son Ca... For children, The Hien is the "father" of the extremely familiar song Nhong nhong nhong : "Nhong nhong nhong cha lam con ngua, de cho con vui hinh cuc lua"

In 2020, he won the C Prize in the 2020 music and theater composition campaign called "Forever a Love" organized by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. For his important contributions to art, he was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the State. Recently, he continued to be awarded the title of People's Artist.

A troubled personal life with 3 broken relationships and 4 marriages.

Musician Thế Hiển got married for the first time at the age of 21 to a girl he met at a cultural event. This marriage gave him two children, musician Bảo Huy and singer Lan Anh. Inheriting their father's talent, they both followed the path of music.

After divorcing his first wife, Thế Hiển had a second marriage with singer Hạ Lan. They were together but decided not to have children to avoid trouble. However, after a decade, both decided to go their separate ways.

A few years later, musician Thế Hiển fell in love with a female journalist 27 years his junior. However, in 2013, this relationship broke down again because the musician could not continue having children. He confided that he broke up because he wanted her to become a mother and have a chance to build a new happiness.

On February 22, 2020, there was information that the musician held a wedding party with his bride Kim Phuong (from Can Tho). Until now, information about his private life has been kept confidential.
