Decision No. 382 of the Ministry of Finance stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Customs Department takes effect from March 1, 2025.

Accordingly, the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance is organized from the central to local levels according to a 3-level model including: Customs Department, 20 regional customs branches, 165 border gate/outside border gate customs offices.

After rearranging and reorganizing the General Department of Customs into the Customs Department, the Customs sector reduced 485 focal points, equivalent to a decrease of 53.77%.

Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi highly appreciated the Customs sector for urgently, seriously and effectively implementing the policy of streamlining the organization and apparatus.

Previously, on February 26, the Ministry of Finance issued Decision No. 465 on appointing Mr. Nguyen Van Tho to the position of Director of the Customs Department.

On March 1, the Ministry of Finance issued Decision No. 877, appointing three Deputy Directors of the Customs Department: Mr. Luu Manh Tuong, Mr. Au Anh Tuan, and Mr. Tran Duc Hung.

On March 4, the Ministry of Finance issued Decision No. 931 on the appointment and transfer of 12 heads of departments and equivalent positions under the Customs Department.

On March 5, Director of the Customs Department Nguyen Van Tho signed 20 decisions to appoint and transfer, and appoint branch directors of 20 regional customs branches.
