The Ministry of Finance has just sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of 17 provinces and cities (Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa, Dien Bien, Binh Duong, Binh Thuan, Kien Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Bac Ninh, Da Nang, Lang Son, Thua Thien - Hue, Dak Lak, Quang Ninh, Lam Dong, Quang Nam) requesting to strengthen management and supervision of casino business activities and electronic games with prizes for foreigners.
Casino and electronic games with prizes business is a conditional investment and business sector, subject to strict control by competent state management agencies.
The Ministry of Finance said that through regular and surprise inspections and press reports, a number of casino and electronic game businesses have violated regulations on who is allowed to play; renting premises, game machines, and game tables to conduct business in violation of the law.
In order to strengthen the management and supervision of casino and electronic game business activities in accordance with the law, ensuring security, order and social safety, the Ministry of Finance requests the Ministry of Public Security and People's Committees of provinces and cities to strengthen surprise inspections of casino and electronic game businesses in the area in accordance with the law and send the inspection results to the Ministry of Finance for coordination in monitoring and handling.
According to the provisions of the Investment Law, Decree No. 03/2017/ND-CP dated January 16, 2017 of the Government on casino business, Decree No. 121/2021/ND-CP dated December 27, 2021 of the Government on business of electronic games with prizes for foreigners, casino business and electronic games with prizes are conditional investment and business sectors and professions, subject to strict control by competent state management agencies to ensure that business activities comply with the provisions of law, ensuring security, order and social safety.
