2024 12th grade excellent student selection exam in Ho Chi Minh City
Director of the Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training Huynh Van Chuong signed a document on August 21 to the Departments of Education and Training of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Nghe An, Bac Giang, Binh Thuan and Hanoi National University on adding a Japanese language test in the national excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year.
In the document, Mr. Chuong stated that, based on the provisions of Point a, Clause 1, Article 5 of the Regulations on the National Excellent Student Selection Exam issued together with Circular No. 17/2023/TT-BGDDT dated October 10, 2023 of the Minister of Education and Training and the request of the above 9 units, the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training agreed to organize the Japanese language exam in the National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam from the 2024-2025 school year.
On the morning of August 23, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, an official from the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that up to this point, the Ministry of Education and Training has just announced Japanese as a new subject added to the national high school exam. So far, the foreign languages included in this exam are English, French, Chinese, Russian and Japanese.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training has just announced a plan to organize a city-level exam to select excellent students in grades 9 and 12. Accordingly, the exam to select excellent students in grade 12 will take place on February 25, 2025.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City will organize exams in math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, economic and legal education, English, Japanese, French, and Chinese (foreign languages have a listening test).
For the IT subject, candidates will do programming on computers.
The exam for selecting excellent 9th grade students at the city level will be held on March 14, 2025 with the subjects of literature, mathematics, natural sciences, history and geography, English, French, Chinese, Japanese (foreign language subject with listening section), technology (industrial orientation), technology (agricultural orientation) in the form of written exams. As for information technology, students will program on computers.
According to the leader of the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the exam for excellent students in grades 9 and 12 has a number of new subjects in line with the 2018 General Education Program. For example, the exam for excellent students in grade 12 has a new subject of economic and legal education. The exam for excellent students in grade 9 has natural sciences (KHTN), and history - geography because in the 2018 General Education Program for secondary schools, there are no longer single subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, history, and geography.
The 9th grade excellent student exam in Natural Science will consist of 2 compulsory and optional parts. The compulsory part with knowledge assessing students' general capacity in content areas accounts for 30% of the score; the optional part, students can choose one of the content areas related to their capacity such as matter transformation, life, etc., accounts for 70% of the score. The structure of the excellent student team in Natural Science will consist of 45 students/locality.
