After finishing high school, following her family's direction, NM (27 years old) studied accounting at a famous university in Hanoi.

Salary of 5 million is not enough money to go to a wedding

Born into a well-off family, her parents supported her to study two degrees in parallel, business administration and accounting.

After graduating, she spent some time working at a company specializing in baby products, earning 12-13 million VND/month.

But her parents persuaded her, so she decided to return to her hometown and take the civil service exam.

State accounting is a difficult field, requiring a large amount of knowledge. She spent a lot of time studying, finally passed the exam and was accepted into a state agency in Bac Giang city.

The job is going smoothly, but with a fixed salary of about 5 million VND, NM has to be frugal, because there are many unnamed, unexpected expenses.

“Back home, I didn’t have to pay rent, but I still had to pay for wedding gifts, funerals, weekend get-togethers with friends, and medical expenses,” NM said.

As a young person, at the beginning of her career, M. has to invest a lot in relationships, especially with partners. Compared to her peers, she has a decent life, a stable job, and the support of her family.

However, her passion for business never died. After returning to her hometown for a few years, feeling that the environment was not as competitive and somewhat boring, this 27-year-old girl decided to find a new direction.

“Many people say that returning to my hometown to work as an accountant is reasonable, but I always want to challenge myself, find a job that meets my passion and living needs like before in Hanoi,” she confided.

So after her 27th birthday, she decided to talk to her family about returning to the capital to find a suitable job.

When asked if she regrets her current life when many people want to become civil servants, M. affirmed that she can only be happy when she can do a job that suits her strengths and passion. She can work 10 hours a day but "can be herself".

While waiting to find a suitable job, she improved her foreign language skills and updated new business trends so as not to fall behind the pace of the city after being back in her hometown for too long.

The dream salary of many people still wants to return to the city

On the contrary, PT (25 years old, from Thanh Hoa), confided that he studied medicine and worked for a company in Hanoi for a while, his income was not low but he chose to return to his hometown to be closer to his family and have a less competitive life.

According to him, after three years, this is still the right decision because of the stability and the dream salary of many people, about 20 million VND/month.

“Living in the countryside is very easy, no need to worry about rent, food is cheap, close to parents. Job opportunities are also open because people are more concerned about the need for medical examination and health care.

But there are also inconveniences such as few places for entertainment, relationships only revolve around friends and colleagues at the same place, and income is not as high as in big cities," PT shared.

When asked about his future plans, PT hesitated for a moment and said he had considered returning to the city, but only if the salary was "much higher" than his current salary.

Unmarried and still full of youthful enthusiasm, PT wants to challenge himself. He has now saved a decent amount of money, and after renovating his parents' house, he will consider the future.

“Living in the countryside is not as difficult as it used to be. It just depends on whether you find it suitable, the working environment is suitable, and whether there are opportunities for development. However, deep down, I often think about returning to the city,” he said.
