On August 21, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology – PTIT held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the Academy Council on the appointment of the Academy’s Deputy Director. The event was connected online to the Academy’s Ho Chi Minh City campus and was attended by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam.
According to Resolution 155 of the Academy Council, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of the Institute of Information Technology and Communications - CDIT, was appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the Academy for the 2020 - 2025 term from August 20.
With the addition of 1 Deputy Director, PTIT's Board of Directors now has 4 members, including Director Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hoai Bac and 3 Deputy Directors Tran Quang Anh, Tan Hanh and Nguyen Trung Kien.
Congratulating the Academy's leadership team on having more personnel to take on the work, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam also noted: The Academy's leadership team, including the new Deputy Director Nguyen Trung Kien, is and will have to carry out many big and challenging tasks, especially completing the ambitious goals of the school's ranking in the Academy's development strategy.
That is: By 2030, the Academy will become the leading university in Vietnam in terms of scale, training quality, scientific research quality, a pioneering model in digital transformation; become the leading university in the region, in the top 100 universities in Asia and the top 5 universities in ASEAN.
On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Phan Tam directed that in the coming time, Deputy Director Nguyen Trung Kien and the Academy's Board of Directors will become a factor of solidarity, gathering talents and knowledge to firmly implement the school's strategic development goals.
Along with that, Deputy Director Nguyen Trung Kien must work with the Academy's leadership to focus knowledge and intelligence to research and concretize the new directions of "Conclusion 91 dated August 12, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, dated November 4, 2013 of the 11th Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration" .
Thereby, proactively proposing new tasks and feasible solutions in the updated and supplemented strategy of the Academy to seriously and creatively implement the new orientations of the Politburo on higher education; contributing to the cause of training and developing high-quality human resources for the country.
As Chairman of the Academy Council, Professor, Dr. Tu Minh Phuong hopes that the new Deputy Director Nguyen Trung Kien will quickly grasp the Academy's activities, especially the three main areas of the school including training, scientific research and facilities.
Regarding the field of science and technology, the field of work that Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien was assigned to be in charge of, Dr. Tu Minh Phuong stated that in his new position, Mr. Kien will have a broader vision than the period of holding the role of managing a unit specializing in science and technology - CDIT, to cover the important work contents of science and technology of the Academy.
Affirming the necessity and urgency of supplementing and perfecting the Academy's leadership, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of PTIT, also said that in the past, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien was one of the people who actively participated in implementing and contributing to the implementation of the goals and targets of the Academy's development strategy until 2025.
“As a researcher with management experience, in his new position, the Academy's Board of Directors hopes that Mr. Kien will have quick approaches, new thinking, and new ways of working to help the Academy's staff develop the school more strongly in the future, worthy of the trust of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications,” Mr. Dang Hoai Bac shared.
Speaking on accepting the new assignment, thanking the trust of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Academy's leadership, the new Deputy Director of PTIT Nguyen Trung Kien pledged to make efforts with the Academy's leadership in the upcoming journey of many opportunities but also many challenges for the school.
Deputy Director Nguyen Trung Kien will focus on three main groups of work in the field of science and technology, including continuing the digital transformation of the Academy, promoting science and technology activities and innovation, and exploiting science and technology applications to solve problems related to training quality.
The new Deputy Director of PTIT, Nguyen Trung Kien, born in 1974, is a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering and has been working at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology for 27 years. During his time at the Institute, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien has held many positions, from researcher, Head of the Technical Support Center of the Information Technology Center, Head of the Network and System Development Research Department of the Information Technology Center, to Deputy Director of the Information Technology Center, and has been the Director of the Institute of Information Technology and Communications since January 2012. Mr. Kien has also been a member of the Institute's Council since September 2020. As a Deputy Director who was trained and nurtured from local sources, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien is considered a highly qualified and prestigious officer in his field of work, and at the same time has a very high sense of responsibility, is careful, meticulous and thoughtful in his work. |
