Exercise and stay away from your phone
Mr. Nghia said that he and his wife have been sending their two children to roller skating lessons for 3 months. The cost of shoes for each child is 2.5 million VND, plus protective gear is 500,000 VND, the first month's tuition for each child is 1,500,000 VND, the following months are 500,000 VND. He and his wife estimate that it will cost about 5 million VND to invest in a child when they first start learning to roller skate, the cost will be lower in the following months.
"But the cost is reasonable because the couple's wish is for their two children to get acquainted with a suitable sport that will help them become agile, healthy, tall, and strong. It's great that the children can exercise flexibly and stay away from TV, phones, and iPads," said Mr. Nghia.
Children practice roller skating at Go Vap District Sports Center
Similarly, Mr. Chau Huy Cuong (38 years old, in Ward 14, Go Vap District), father of Chau Huy Nhat, said that he has sent his son to roller skating lessons for more than 1.5 years. From the first days of getting acquainted, the child was shy and afraid of falling, but now he has become proficient and joined the Go Vap District gifted team to compete in the national competition.
"When I started studying, I weighed 40 kg and was 141 cm tall. After 1.5 years of studying, I now weigh 49 kg, am 151 cm tall, and have a firmer body," Huy Nhat shared.

Is learning to roller skate difficult?
Coach Nguyen Vu Hoang Khanh, Head of the Go Vap Roller Sport Club, said that on average, about 40 children come to learn and practice roller skating each session. The club was officially established nearly 3 years ago by the decision of the Go Vap District Sports Center with about 100 children participating regularly.
"Usually both children and parents are afraid of falling when learning this subject. However, before learning, students are equipped with protective gear and instructed on how to fall, and fall with technique. That is, in case they cannot maintain their balance, they will fall so that they land safely," Khanh analyzed.
On average, it takes children 1-2 months to get used to balancing and walking on shoes, then after about 3 months they will be more proficient. The most difficult thing for children when they first start learning to roller skate is to overcome their fear. When children get used to the shoes and master the technique of falling, they will be more confident.

Benefits of roller skating
Coach Nguyen Vu Hoang Khanh said that in addition to benefits such as training arm and leg muscles and increasing height, roller skating also helps children increase their ability to maintain balance, concentrate, and integrate with friends...
Master-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Hao, Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital, said that children who roller skate often have to use their leg muscles, knee joints, and foot joints. This helps the muscles and joints to be stimulated regularly, become more flexible, bones develop smoothly, and height increases rapidly.
In addition, when playing roller skating, the musculoskeletal system is continuously exercised, the body becomes flexible, helping the body become firmer as well as increasing metabolism, helping children eat better, thereby improving health.
"However, exercise time needs to be arranged scientifically and reasonably. Exercise needs to be done with proper technique and under the supervision of a trainer to ensure the safety of children," Dr. Hao advised.
