The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued an official dispatch on the implementation of tasks for the 2024-2025 school year for universities and pedagogical colleges.

Overcoming unfairness in admission methods

One of the specific tasks that the Ministry of Education and Training requires training institutions to complete enrollment work in 2024 according to the general plan, ensuring the implementation of the targets and methods announced in the project, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the training institutions.

Educational institutions must complete and promptly announce admission methods from 2025 onwards, thoroughly overcoming the problem of unfairness and lack of trust in admission methods and criteria; ensuring consistency with the 2018 General Education Program, while having a positive impact on teaching and learning activities in general education.

For training institutions with teacher training majors, the Ministry of Education and Training requires training institutions to proactively work with the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and propose to the direct management agency on assigning training tasks and registering enrollment targets according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, to effectively implement Decree No. 71/2020/ND-CP and Decree No. 116/2020/ND-CP of the Government.

Attract and retain good teachers

The Ministry of Education and Training also requires educational institutions to streamline their organizational structure, reduce the number of focal points and intermediate management levels in training institutions, strengthen decentralization of management, especially in performing professional tasks in accordance with the spirit of university autonomy; deploy the establishment of school councils, and perfect leadership positions in accordance with regulations.

Institutions should strengthen training, attract and develop teaching staff, especially for STEM and other key fields, and at the same time develop working regimes, evaluate and reward lecturers according to their qualifications, abilities, job positions and work performance to attract, retain and develop good teaching staff, especially in fields that compete strongly with the industrial sector in attracting talent.

Pedagogical schools focus on training new high-quality educational human resources, while prioritizing capacity building activities for teachers and educational managers towards standardization, meeting the requirements of educational innovation.

Candidates who scored 9.5 points per subject still failed the university entrance exam, what did the Ministry of Education and Training say? The reduction in quotas for the high school graduation exam score method and the fierce competition to get into top schools are said to be the reasons for the increase in admission scores for many majors.
