Ho Chi Minh City Police presided over and coordinated with police in 18 provinces and cities to eradicate 2 secret groups on the Internet that were trading in weapons, explosives, and support tools on a large scale; arrested 37 subjects, seized 65 guns, 8,668 bullets, nearly 1,000 gun parts, 4 grenades, etc.
On June 2, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, sent a letter of commendation to the Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department for presiding over and coordinating with the police of 18 provinces and centrally-run cities to organize the fight to eradicate two secret groups on cyberspace engaged in large-scale trading of weapons, explosives, and support tools.
So far, the police have arrested 37 subjects, seized 65 guns, 8,668 bullets, nearly 1,000 gun parts of various types, 4 grenades and many other documents and evidence.
The letter stated that this is an exceptionally outstanding achievement, demonstrating the determination, high sense of responsibility, and sharpness of the professional skills of the Ho Chi Minh City Police and other units and localities in identifying criminals trading in weapons, explosives, and support tools.
It is also a creative application of the Ministry of Public Security's plan to handle a number of high-tech criminal situations that take advantage of cyberspace to commit crimes.
The results of the special case reflected the active coordination between local police. This contributed to deterring and preventing organized and inter-provincial crimes, stabilizing security and order, and strengthening people's trust in the police force.
On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc commended the achievements of the units.
The Deputy Minister of Public Security also requested the Ho Chi Minh City Police to continue to coordinate with relevant units and localities to urgently investigate, expand the case, consolidate documents and evidence to propose prosecution of the subject; at the same time, he hoped that the units would promote the achieved results, make more achievements and outstanding achievements in work and combat.
