Phuoc Kien Tunnel is built of reinforced concrete, with a design life of 100 years; clearance of 5 m; design speed of tunnel and access roads on both sides is 40 km/h. The tunnel is built in the direction from Huynh Van Cu Street to Pham Ngoc Thach Street. The approach roads at both ends of the tunnel are nearly 230 m long, the length of the route is about 630 m. The total cost of the project is 1,050 billion VND, and construction will take two years.

Phuoc Kien Five-Way Intersection is an important traffic axis on Highway 13 passing through Thu Dau Mot City, connecting this highway with Pham Ngoc Thach, Huynh Van Cu, Nguyen Van Tiet streets. When completed, the project will relieve the traffic from all directions to Highway 13 and to Binh Duong New City, helping to reduce congestion in the area.

National Highway 13 is over 145 km long, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc, and is one of the main arteries in the Southeast. While the section running through the two neighboring provinces is regularly upgraded and expanded, the more than 5 km section through Ho Chi Minh City (from Binh Trieu Bridge to Binh Phuoc Overpass) has only 4-6 lanes, creating a "bottleneck" and frequent congestion. The city has repeatedly planned to expand it but has not been able to implement it.
