On December 16, speaking at the 2024 Conference on Contact with Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas in the Central Highlands of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy affirmed that our Party and State have always consistently advocated equality, solidarity, respect, and mutual assistance among ethnic groups for mutual development.
The Central Highlands region has a particularly important strategic position and role in terms of economy, politics, culture, society, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country. Rapid and sustainable development of the Central Highlands is a major policy of the Party and State and a continuous and central task; it has important significance for the development of localities in the region and the whole country.
The conference was attended by 150 delegates who are prestigious representatives of ethnic minorities from Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Lam Dong provinces. The conference was held in the Central Highlands for the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and central agencies to listen to thoughts, feelings, aspirations, reflections, and recommendations on the implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State in the locality.
At the conference, delegates representing ethnic minorities expressed their thoughts and recommendations to the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. They focused on recommending ministries and branches to accelerate the implementation of the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution 23 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region until 2030, with a vision to 2045; Decision No. 104 of the Prime Minister on promulgating the Project on socio-economic development associated with national defense and security protection in the Central Highlands region; The National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, in coordination with other programs and policies in the area such as sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction, associated with restructuring the agricultural sector, adapting to climate change and sustainable environmental protection - considers this as one of the breakthrough solutions for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in particular and the Central Highlands region in general.
In particular, opinions also focused on recommending strict handling of forest encroachment, resolutely ending deforestation and destruction of the ecological environment. At the same time, better management should be implemented to ensure basic social services for people in terms of access to health care, education, information services as well as job opportunities for ethnic minority workers. Focus on synchronous development of education, training and health sectors to improve the quality of human resources for the Central Highlands, eliminating the situation of "human resource shortage".
Listening to the opinions, thoughts, feelings, reflections and recommendations of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands sent to the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and authorities at all levels, on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy said that these are thoughts, recommendations and proposals from reality and carry the breath of life, of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands, reflected and recommended by village elders, prestigious people, typical individuals, representing ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands to the Party and State through the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
“On behalf of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, I would like to fully acknowledge the opinions, recommendations and proposals of the delegates and will direct the specialized committees to synthesize and prepare reports to send to the competent authorities for consideration and resolution in the coming time, promptly responding to the requests of the ethnic people in the Central Highlands region” - Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy affirmed.
Emphasizing that our Party and State have always consistently advocated equality, solidarity, respect, and mutual assistance for all ethnic groups to develop, Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy said that up to now, the Party and State's policies and guidelines have been gradually perfected, covering all aspects of the lives of ethnic minorities.
From the Conference forum, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy hoped that when the delegates return to their localities, they will be active propagandists to continue to propagate and mobilize people to well implement the Party's policies, the State's laws and policies, socio-economic development programs, and ensure national defense and security in localities. Maintain security, borders, and landmarks; do not listen to or believe in the plots and tricks of hostile forces, taking advantage of ethnic and religious policies to incite and divide ethnic groups in localities in the region.
Along with that, each person with prestige needs to coordinate with the Front Work Committee in residential areas and socio-political organizations to further improve the quality of supervision, the organization and implementation of the Party and State's policies and guidelines; socio-economic development programs in the locality; ensure that the Party and State's policies and guidelines and socio-economic development programs truly reach ethnic minorities; truly contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction; gradually improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities.
Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy also suggested that each delegate should continue to mobilize ethnic minorities to actively participate in the movements "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas"; the movement "All people participate in protecting national sovereignty, territory and border security"; and the movement "All people protect national security" associated with the work of building and replicating effective models in the fields of economy, culture, society, security and national defense. Promote the role of mastery and self-management of the people, build a united, prosperous and happy residential area.
“Mobilize ethnic minorities to protect land and forests; shift crop and livestock structure; preserve, conserve and promote traditional cultural values; build civilized lifestyles and cultural families; eliminate social evils, superstitions, and backward customs; ensure security, social order and safety in the area” - Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy suggested.
At the Conference, on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy presented gifts to 150 delegates attending the Conference.
The Central Highlands includes 5 provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong with a natural area of about 54.5 thousand km2, accounting for 1/6 of the country's area; the 3rd largest of the 6 socio-economic regions. The Central Highlands is considered the "western fence of the Fatherland", playing a particularly important strategic role and position in terms of economy, politics, culture, society, environment, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country. It is a region rich in potential and advantages in terms of natural conditions and natural resources in development, playing a central role in East-West connectivity; and is a strategic reserve for the country's sustainable development.
