Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh and leaders of Da Nang city awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 collectives and 49 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies of the Party and State.
On November 15, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held the 2nd Conference to honor ethnic minority representatives in 2024.
Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh attended and gave a speech at the conference.
Information at the conference said that Da Nang has 31 ethnic minority groups living with about 5,880 people. Of which, the Chinese ethnic group accounts for 46.8% (2,753 people), the Co Tu ethnic group accounts for 27% (1,581 people, mainly residing in Ta Lang village, Gian Bi village, Hoa Bac commune and Phu Tuc village, Hoa Phu commune of Hoa Vang district), 29 other ethnic minorities account for 26.2% (1,546 people); 194 cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers are working at agencies and units in the city.
In recent years, the lives of ethnic minorities in Da Nang have stabilized and changed positively. The whole province has from 70 to 100% of ethnic minority households escaping poverty in the periods of 2019 - 2021, 2022 - 2025.
Along with maintaining and restoring festivals, brocade weaving, knitting, wine making, and wooden sculpture of the Co Tu people in Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu communes; in the period of 2019-2023, Da Nang city has supported 100% of tuition fees for children of ethnic minority households in these two communes.
Students of ethnic minorities in Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu are also supported with 100% of health insurance premiums with family code (GD4). Students from poor households according to the city's standards are supported with tuition fees of 150,000 VND/student/month.
Speaking at the conference, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh highly appreciated the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang in caring for the lives and preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
Mr. Hau A Lenh especially praised and acknowledged the efforts of ethnic minorities in Da Nang, contributing to the people of the whole country in the current cause of innovation, development and protection of the country.
The Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee requested that the Party Committees and authorities of Da Nang city continue to thoroughly grasp the Party and State's guidelines and policies on ethnic affairs, great national unity and ethnic policies; be creative, resolute, have many breakthrough solutions, focus on and effectively implement the targets of the National Target Programs, participate in proposing initiatives to build the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, phase II (2026-2030).
Mr. Hau A Lenh also requested that the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, unions and social organizations in Da Nang pay more attention to preserving and promoting good traditional cultural values, tangible and intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities, and eliminating backward customs...
At the Conference, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 5 individuals.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives and 23 individuals; the Office of the City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives and 21 ethnic minority individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies of the Party and State.
