"I often went to Vy Da's house in Hue. When Da moved to Ho Chi Minh City, I also went to her house. Vy Da had two daughters, the youngest daughter studied in the US and settled there. In her last years, Vy Da and her husband, poet Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong, moved to the South to live with their eldest son.

The daughter bought Vy Da and her husband an apartment next to her house, with two maids to help with the housework. Da's husband has been bedridden for many years now, but is still lucid and still recognizes people. In the last years of his life, Vy Da suffered from Alzheimer's disease (memory loss - PV) so he did not recognize me," screenwriter Hong Ngát recounted.

Screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát added that Lam Thi Vy Da is a kind and benevolent person. Friends have never seen Vy Da blame or be angry with anyone.

"I can talk to Da about everything in the world without fear of anything. Vy Da is a reserved person, knows how to keep secrets. Da is a trustworthy and kind person," Ms. Hong Ngát commented about her friend.

The female screenwriter added that when poet Lam Thi Vy Da entered Nguyen Du Writing School, she also received an admission notice from this school, but because she was more passionate about theater, she chose to study at Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.

The poet from the Central region often told Hong Ngát: "If you studied at Nguyen Du's writing school, we would have more memories and more fun." But the two female poets still often met each other even though they studied at different schools. At that time, poet Vy Da had to bring her child to Hanoi to study, but she tried very hard to both take care of her child and complete her studies.

Former Deputy Director of the Cinema Department Hong Ngát did not forget the memories with poet Lam Thi My Da in Hanoi: "When I was still healthy, Vy Da went to Hanoi every year to visit. Da often stood on Thuy Khue street, I often drove out to pick her up to visit my house.

When I went to pick up Da, I often bought a chicken and hung it in the car, boiled it, and then we ate and chatted together. Da often slept at my house, sometimes at the houses of Phan Thi Thanh Nhan, Tran Thi Truong, Doan Thi Lam Luyen... Da was an honored guest so we welcomed her very warmly.

"Not only does Vy Da write good poetry, she is also a very beautiful, enthusiastic, and sociable person. Her poetry reflects her true personality. Vy Da's compositions are natural but very artistic," poet Lam Luyen confided.

Lam Thi My Da was born in 1949, from Le Thuy district, Quang Binh. She worked at the Quang Binh Department of Culture, from 1978 to 1983 she studied at Nguyen Du Writing School. Later she became a reporter and editor of the Huong River Magazine of the Thua Thien Hue Literature and Arts Association. Her husband is poet Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong.

In 2007, poet Lam Thi My Da was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts by the President for three collections of poetry: The Birth of the Heart (1974), The Poem Without Years (1983), and Dedicating a Dream (1988). In 2005, her collection of poems Green Rice was translated into English, printed and published in the United States.

Mission accomplished

(Written for poet Lam Thi My Da)

The Three Realms - a temporary destination

Everyone has to move.

Completed poet mission

She turned around and went back.

Many friends here

Stunned with grief

A noble soul

To return to the holy place

Your poems used to comfort me

How many difficult fates

Her poetry was once refined

Life needs to be opened up

She filled the "bomb crater"

With the vast "sky"

Those who are discouraged

Keep your head up and keep walking

Now she has come

Not a high-rise yet

Not paradise yet

But far from the mortal world

Surely where you come from

No more suffering

Her poet soul

Fresh in the beginning!
