According to SCMP , the incident happened in mid-October at a vocational college in Zhejiang province, China.

A video circulating online shows the teacher walking up to the male student's desk and discovering him secretly playing games on his phone during class.

“Give it to me,” the teacher demanded, adding, “Why are you playing games during class?”

The male student ignored and clutched his phone as the teacher tried to snatch it from his hand. The teacher eventually took the phone and walked towards the podium to continue the lesson.

However, the male student stood up, followed the teacher, and suddenly attacked him from behind. The student grabbed the teacher by the neck and squeezed hard, causing him to suffocate.

Taken by surprise, the teacher did not react in time to the violence and did not attempt to fight back against his student.

The students were shocked by the incident. Some classmates tried to intervene and separate the two. However, the male student continued to rush forward and choke the teacher again.

In response to the male student's unruly and dangerous behavior, the school said it had punished him but has not yet released specific details.

On social networks, most comments criticized the male student's rebelliousness and praised the teacher's behavior.

“How can a student be so angry that he strangles another person? So scary,” one person commented.

“What a responsible teacher. He restrained himself from hurting the students during the violence,” another wrote.

It is not uncommon in China for teenagers to lose control of their anger after having their phones confiscated.

Last August, a 15-year-old game-addicted boy brutally attacked his mother at a Beijing subway station after she took away his phone.

In February, an elementary school student swung a knife at his father's face because he wouldn't let him play games on his phone.
