The resolution approving the appointment of the Minister of Transport was just passed by the National Assembly on the afternoon of November 28.
According to this Resolution, Mr. Tran Hong Minh, Central Committee member, Secretary of Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee, was approved to be appointed as Minister of Transport.
Mr. Minh takes over the position of Commander of the Transport sector from Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - who was recently approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Finance.
Mr. Tran Hong Minh was born in 1967, hometown in My Duc district, Hanoi city.
He is an Engineer, Master of Defense Construction (Military Technical Academy) and Doctor of Bridges, Roads - Foundations and Underground Construction (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology). He has a long time studying and working in the engineering profession.
Mr. Minh used to be a lecturer at the Engineering Officer School, Engineering Corps, then gradually held the role of Deputy Head of the Department of Bridges and River Crossing, Engineering Officer School, Engineering Corps.
In early 2011, Mr. Minh became Deputy Chief of Staff, then Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Engineering Corps.
By May 2016, Mr. Minh held the position of Deputy Commander of Military Region 1, then concurrently Chief of Staff of this unit.
At the end of 2018, he was promoted to Lieutenant General, held the position of Commander of Military Region 1, and then assumed the position of Director of the General Department of Defense Industry.
From September 2021 until being approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Transport, he held the position of Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee.
