"Learning must go hand in hand with practice" is the motto of a female student who just received a diploma with honors from Foreign Trade University (Hanoi).
Duong Quynh Trang (22 years old) majored in both Business English and Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University . Currently, the female student has completed both majors. Trang is also fluent in Chinese.

Quynh Trang was a student majoring in Chinese at the Foreign Language High School (Hanoi National University). In grade 12, Quynh Trang self-studied for the IELTS exam and achieved a score of 7.0.
Right after being admitted to the Business English major, Quynh Trang learned about the dual major program. "Studying two majors at the same time helps me accumulate diverse knowledge and have a more general view in many fields. From there, I have more career opportunities, applying for jobs in many different fields and positions," Quynh Trang said.
However, studying two majors at the same time means that the number of subjects increases almost twice, requiring Trang to manage her time effectively, scientifically and qualitatively to keep up with the lectures, complete the assignments of both well, especially from the second year, when she starts to learn specialized knowledge with many assignments and large projects.
"To organize time effectively, first of all, you need to have goals and desired results for a specific job. I often divide them into long-term and short-term goal groups and always review them to be able to adjust them appropriately at each time," Quynh Trang said.
Trang made a list of courses for both majors, clearly dividing the subjects for each semester to ensure the right roadmap, from there arranging the schedule accordingly. Trang tried to prioritize the work, make a list of tasks to do by day, week, month and schedule a specific schedule in advance using Google Calendar.
"On average, I study 12 subjects per semester. I usually try to arrange my study sessions back to back, then participate in activities and go to work. Thanks to a reasonable time allocation, I completed all the subjects for 2 majors in less than 4 years," Quynh Trang shared.

After each week of study, Trang spends time summarizing knowledge and information to review as well as have documents for each final exam. Trang often uses some methods such as Cornell Note-Taking Method, Mindmap to take notes of lesson content.
"It is difficult to balance all aspects of life including work, study, relationships, but can only harmonize them in the most suitable way. Each person needs to determine the priority of each task, complete the tasks with the utmost care and concentration, "work when working, play when playing" to achieve the best results", Quynh Trang shared.
In studying, Trang always applies the motto "Learning goes hand in hand with practice". This combination always gives Trang unified and complementary perception and action, making the knowledge learned become profound and solid, from which her own actions will have a scientific basis, be fluent, easy, logical, creative, and achieve higher results in studying.
"For the Business English major, I will combine my learning knowledge with teaching to practice speaking skills, listen to English news on TV to improve listening skills and specialized vocabulary, and attend international conferences. As for the Foreign Economic Relations major, I will learn about the activities of some businesses and do field trips to those places," Trang said.
In addition to studying at school, Trang also works part-time, participates in clubs and extracurricular activities to develop skills, learn and mature after each event.

Master Dac Loc said that in September 2023, Trang received her diploma in Business English. In February 2024, Trang will receive her diploma in Foreign Economics. Trang has now completed the study program of 2 majors. However, according to school regulations, students cannot be awarded 2 diplomas at the same time, so Trang must wait until February 2024 to receive the remaining diploma .
