The film Lang Trong Pho deals with the hard life of country people who move to the city in the hope of finding better jobs. Although not the main character, the character Men (Doan Quoc Dam) receives special attention from the audience because of his deep, hoarse voice.
After more than 10 episodes of the film, the online community still hopes that the director and screenwriter will soon "take Men to get his voice corrected" so that the character's lines can be heard clearly. In fact, in the film Lang Trong Pho, not only does Men "squeeze" his voice to create a highlight for his role, but the character Ban, played by actor Hoang Du Ka, also has a strange voice.
Emotional dialogue of character Ban in the movie "Village in the City".
Accordingly, Ban is a member of the boarding house where the main characters Hieu and Hoai are living. With a gentle and simple personality, Ban receives sympathy from the audience watching the film even though he also has a rather special voice.
Sharing about his voice in the film, Hoang Du Ka said: "I am just a supporting character in the film Village in the City. This time, I play the role of a country boy with difficult circumstances, who goes to the city with the hope of finding a good job to make a living but is always lacking.
Ban will help portray more realistically the hardships and deprivations of provincial workers in the city. Ban's voice is unique to bring laughter and cuteness to the situations of the film. I did not have difficulty in "squeezing" the voice or keeping that special voice from the beginning to the end of the film, but only had difficulty in keeping that voice as easy to listen to as possible for the audience."
Hoang Du Ka in character Ban.
Many people have noticed that the character Ban's special voice is somewhat similar to the voice of actor Chien Thang when he played Nhat Tinh Ngao in the movie Lang e vo . However, Hoang Du Ka said that this was his and the crew's creation of Lang trong pho , not a copy from his senior.
"I myself have never seen that role of Chien Thang or seen clips online, so I don't know if my voice is similar to the character Nhat Tinh Ngao or not. But I have encountered voices like Ban's a lot in daily life, it is a tongue defect that affects pronunciation.
I brought that voice into the film to better portray the situation and personality of the character Ban, and it was also a highlight to help bring humor and intimacy to the role.
Because that voice is authentic and not too rare in real life, I think it is completely normal for it to be similar or coincide with another movie character. Because actors always build their characters based on real life, of course that lisping voice is not "exclusive" to anyone.
"I think Doan Quoc Dam anticipated the audience's reaction to Men's unique voice," Hoang Du Ka shared.
Both have a special voice in the film, but Doan Quoc Dam's character Men is criticized while Ban is loved. In particular, the audience is very interested in Ban's long dialogues and does not criticize them like when listening to Men "confess".
Hoang Du Ka shared: "I used to "squeeze" my voice when performing on stage and it was well received by the audience, so I know how people will react to the character Ban's voice.
That's why I think Doan Quoc Dam anticipated the audience's reaction to Men's unique voice. We all know that Dam is a talented actor, always paying close attention to each role and studying the script very carefully, so when he decided to use that voice, there must be a reason.
I think Dam wanted to portray a character who suffered serious health effects from alcohol abuse. Men's voice in the film can be understood as a warning about the harmful effects of alcohol on human health. Therefore, I think we should give encouragement and praise to Dam when deciding to use that voice.
I hope the audience will understand and support Dam and our fellow artists. Everything we do is with the desire to bring the best work and the most interesting experience to the audience."
