In a recent report on Ukraine's counter-offensive, BBC quoted soldiers from the 24th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian army as saying they must prepare for a never-ending war.
The BBC also said the summer counter-offensive in Ukraine is coming to an end without the breakthroughs many had expected.

Despite the massive amounts of military equipment supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries, the West has been unable to break through Russia’s defenses in southeastern Ukraine, while Moscow has repelled Kiev’s counterattacks on virtually every front.
BBC commented that Russia has the superiority in the number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). They attack Ukrainian defense positions and mechanized units day and night. In other words, air superiority is giving Moscow's forces a huge advantage on the battlefield.
"Russia has more drones, which makes camouflage and staying undetected important. We were about to carry out a mission when the radio rang to stop because we had detected Russian aircraft in the area," a Ukrainian soldier told the BBC.
If Ukrainian forces hold out in fortified positions, Russian UAVs will destroy their vehicles and manpower.
According to Ukrainian soldiers, even if they take the fortification line from Russia, they will soon be bombarded by enemy fire with many types of weapons. Faced with such a situation, anyone's spirit must think of ways to protect themselves.
According to the BBC , the Ukrainian soldiers interviewed were unsure about when they were discharged from the army, despite having been fighting for quite a while.
Earlier, on September 27, RT quoted Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu's statement at a meeting with Russian Defense Ministry officials saying that the Ukrainian army continued to suffer heavy losses nearly four months after the counteroffensive began. Mr. Shoigu affirmed that Kiev had lost more than 17,000 soldiers in September alone.
Minister Shoigu added that Ukraine also lost more than 2,700 pieces of military equipment in the same month of September. The list of equipment destroyed by Russian forces includes seven US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, two German-made Leopard tanks and one British-made Challenger tank, as well as 77 US-made M777 howitzers and 51 self-propelled guns from Germany, France, Poland and the US.
