On August 21, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province announced that on August 20, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province Lai Van Hoan signed a decision to extend the temporary suspension of Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of the province.
Specifically, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province decided to extend the temporary suspension of Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien - member of the provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training - to serve the inspection of the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Thai Binh province from August 21, the extended suspension period is 15 working days.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien is responsible for strictly implementing the decision to extend the temporary suspension from work, providing full information and relevant documents, and complying with the requests of the head of the inspection team and competent authorities during the inspection period as prescribed.
Previously, on July 31, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien from work for 15 days to serve the inspection on the above matter.
According to the inspection conclusion on the reprinting of essay exams for the 2024-2025 high school entrance exam issued by the Chief Inspector of Thai Binh province on August 16, it was initially determined that Director of the Thai Binh Department of Education and Training Nguyen Viet Hien - Head of the Exam Steering Committee and the Secretariat did not comply with regulations in the process of reprinting essay exams.
This led to the announcement of incorrect scores for 1,589 candidates, incorrect admission scores for the first round of 4/12 classes of specialized high schools, 11/29 general high schools, and incorrect admission results for 510 candidates.
After the second retest, 252 candidates passed, including 15 candidates passing Thai Binh Specialized High School.
This also means that 15 candidates from the specialized examination council will be removed from the list of candidates admitted to specialized schools and 243 candidates from the general high school examination council will change from being admitted to not being admitted to their first choice.

The cause of this violation is that the Head of the Secretariat and related individuals of the Secretariat did not fully perform their responsibilities in performing their official duties.
Director of Thai Binh Department of Education and Training Nguyen Viet Hien and the Secretariat were irresponsible, did not inspect and supervise, and did not promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee about unusual incidents during the exam.
Initially, at the stage of reviewing the essay test, the Provincial Inspectorate determined the responsibility of the civil servants and public employees of the Secretariat in performing the assigned tasks and powers in the 10th grade entrance exam.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien is responsible as the head of the Department of Education and Training, head of the exam steering committee.
From this inspection conclusion, the Inspectorate of Thai Binh province recommends that the People's Committee of Thai Binh province direct this unit to continue to clearly identify the existence, limitations, violations, and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in the process of performing tasks at all stages leading to deviations, incorrect exam scores of candidates, incorrect admission results, and recommend handling measures.
