Parents in Hanoi take their children to get Vitamin A.

On the occasion of Micronutrient Day June 1-2, the Ministry of Health requests all levels and sectors to continue to join hands with the health sector to propagate and mobilize people to implement measures to prevent malnutrition in mothers and children;

Strengthening household food security, improving meal quality, using a variety of foods in daily meals, prioritizing the selection and use of foods rich in micronutrients.

For young children, it is necessary to exclusively breastfeed for the first 6 months, and to give them solid foods that ensure adequate nutrition and are age-appropriate.

Pregnant mothers and malnourished children under 5 years old need to be supplemented with micronutrient-fortified products daily.

These are extremely necessary tasks for us to achieve the goals of the National Nutrition Strategy for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 02/QD-TTg dated January 5, 2022.

In addition to taking Vitamin A, children in 22 disadvantaged provinces are dewormed.

In 2023, the Ministry of Health will organize the first Vitamin A supplementation campaign for children starting from International Children's Day, June 1, 2023, which is also Micronutrient Day. The campaign will be held nationwide, in which in 22 disadvantaged mountainous provinces, each child aged 6-59 months will receive 1 dose of Vitamin A, children aged 24-59 months will receive periodic deworming; in the remaining 41 provinces and cities, children aged 6-35 months will receive 1 dose of Vitamin A. The source of medicine used in the campaign is provided by Vitamin Angel - USA. In the first campaign, it is expected that more than 6 million children nationwide will receive Vitamin A supplements, of which more than 392,000 children are expected in Hanoi alone.
