(PLVN) - On the afternoon of January 9, 2025, in Sa Pa, Lao Cai Provincial Tourism Association held a conference to summarize activities in 2024 and plan tasks for 2025. Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee attended and directed the conference.
In 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the severe impact of storm No. 3 (Yagi), with the efforts of the entire industry, Lao Cai tourism continues to maintain stable growth momentum, with many positive changes bringing practical results, maintaining the Lao Cai tourism brand, contributing to promoting the overall socio-economic development of the province.
Over the past year, Lao Cai Tourism Association has implemented many cooperation programs with other localities to promote the beautiful image of this land to international friends. In addition, improving the quality of tourism services through organizing professional training for the workforce in the industry is also focused.
According to Mr. Pham Cao Vy, Chairman of Lao Cai Province Tourism Association, the Provincial Tourism Association has organized many meaningful practical activities such as: Coordinating with the Vietnam Tourism Association to consult on mechanisms, policies, and orientations for tourism development in Lao Cai province; Coordinating with the Department of Tourism to successfully organize a conference to meet tourism businesses; participating in the development of new tourism products; coordinating the organization of tourism events in the province; Regularly directing Association members to improve the quality of tourism services, enhance tourism promotion; supporting and helping members to overcome difficulties to maintain and promote production and business activities.
The results of those efforts have contributed to making Lao Cai and Sa Pa become prominent and attractive destinations in the country. In 2024, the whole province welcomed over 8 million tourists, with total revenue from tourists reaching over 26,700 billion VND, an increase of 20% compared to 2023, ranking first among the provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged and warmly congratulated the results that Lao Cai tourism industry has achieved in 2024. At the same time, she emphasized: In 2025, Lao Cai province strives to achieve dual goals (completing very high socio-economic targets in 2025; striving to reach the targets of the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress), with many important events and tasks being implemented, playing an important role in promoting the rapid and sustainable development of the province in the coming period. This is a great opportunity for the province and the tourism industry, the Tourism Association and tourism businesses need to pay special attention.

She said that by 2025, Lao Cai province aims to welcome 10 million visitors, with tourism revenue reaching 44,500 billion VND, making Lao Cai a tourism center and economic growth pole of the Northern mountainous tourism region.
To achieve the set goals, the Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested the entire Lao Cai tourism sector to continue to synchronously implement solutions to effectively implement Resolution No. 82 of the Government on key tasks and solutions to accelerate recovery and accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development by 2025; Resolution No. 11 of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development in Lao Cai province; Framework for Lao Cai province's tourism development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, to effectively exploit the potential advantages to develop truly unique, different, and truly attractive tourism products such as adventure, ecological, cultural tourism, etc.
The Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also set out a number of requirements for Lao Cai Tourism Association to improve the quality of services for tourists, join hands to build a safe, friendly tourism environment, imbued with traditional cultural identity so that Lao Cai can truly become an attractive tourist destination on the national and international tourism map.
